PowerVR GPU is decent. only being pulled down by the crap MediaTek CPU.
leledumbo, 28 Sep 2017Right. They refuse to release source code of their own SoC, yet they wonder why they lose the ... moreclients? Please mediatek doesn't have clients. People just buy budget phones because they don't have the budget for a mid-tier smartphone or don't wanna spend more than 150$ for a phone. Nobody is willing to buy a phone with a mediatek soc, that's the lowest and worst performer compared to all the other chipet available.
Lots of people aren't willing to spend 200$ for a phone, they just want something basic that works and 70% percent complain afterwards why their phones underperforms.
Android is a quite heavy OS, for a good smartphone one must atleast give 250-300$ with a snapdragon soc in there.
Even the lowest snapdragon soc 4xx series is faster than the high end mediatek soc, that's ridiculous
Sciucafez, 28 Sep 2017dont ever ever ever buy mediatek chipset phone. mediatek never maintain ur phone to update ur ... moreRight. They refuse to release source code of their own SoC, yet they wonder why they lose the battle against Qualcomm's SoC. They're too blind to see their own mistakes that drive their clients away.
This would be nice upgrade for Jelly phone, instead of 1.1GHz MT6737M
dont ever ever ever buy mediatek chipset phone. mediatek never maintain ur phone to update ur operating system. they suckkk. trust me.
Luxor, 28 Sep 2017When will mediatek start making flagship quality chipset for the midrange phone. They did. X23 is found on 200$ Lenovo k8 note
When will mediatek start making flagship quality chipset for the midrange phone.
They should rename company to Mediocre. Although I do use a mediate chip in my tablet and it's fine
MarcioR, 27 Sep 2017nobody is willing to buy a laggy handset either. This is clearly low end, it's a 4-5$ chipset ... moreWell, I have MT6737 device but it's working well enough while another with MT6580 is quite laggy. Redmi 4a was one of the most popular budget phone, but its cpu is sd425 which has a quite similar architecture to MT6737. This cpu is not as terrible as you think.
Anonymous, 27 Sep 2017It's people like you who needs to grow up... Not everyone is after a high-spec disposable expe... morenobody is willing to buy a laggy handset either. This is clearly low end, it's a 4-5$ chipset while the snapdragon counterpart is estimated 70-80$. Phones with this SOC are expected to be laggy and already obsolete with newer apps being developed.
phones with this SOC shouldn't be higher than 80%, just saying
