Mediatek introduces the MT6739 chipset Comments

What i dont understand is why the relatively newer cpu MT6739 (announced 2017) still has an older and worse iGPU (PowerVR GE8100 launched 2014) than cpu MT6735 (2014) which has iGPU (ARM Mali-T720, 2015). MT6739 (122) ranks almost same as MT6735 (124) according to list on website phonecurry and MT6735 even scores better in some tests on website notebookcheck.
Comparison of igpu-performance with info from notebookcheck:
- PowerVR GE8100 of MT6739, PassMark PerformanceTest Mobile V1 - PerformanceTest Mobile 2D Graphics Tests, 1768 point . 3D, 217 points.
-ARM Mali-T720 of MT6735, PassMark PerformanceTest Mobile V1 - PerformanceTest Mobile 2D Graphics Tests, 2323 point . 3D, 652 points.
In other words why does newer cpu have older igpu and have a total score that can barely beat older cpu?

leledumbo, 28 Sep 2017Right. They refuse to release source code of their own SoC, yet they wonder why they lose the ... moreclients? Please mediatek doesn't have clients. People just buy budget phones because they don't have the budget for a mid-tier smartphone or don't wanna spend more than 150$ for a phone. Nobody is willing to buy a phone with a mediatek soc, that's the lowest and worst performer compared to all the other chipet available.
Lots of people aren't willing to spend 200$ for a phone, they just want something basic that works and 70% percent complain afterwards why their phones underperforms.
Android is a quite heavy OS, for a good smartphone one must atleast give 250-300$ with a snapdragon soc in there.
Even the lowest snapdragon soc 4xx series is faster than the high end mediatek soc, that's ridiculous
