Samsung sold 5,000 note 8 phones in 30mins!! Lol What a silly name for phone that doesn’t sell well.
Got to sell it at cost to build a fan base. Plus, a lot of people don't like to buy version 1.0.
unsymmetrical phones are ugly.
alot of ppl (maybe) will buy this phone if it is equipped with SD630 at midrange price. i wont be spending too much money on startup smartphone's company. even the repairability score is essentially bad (1/10 by iFixit).
They would have probably spent more on launch parties. and then the delay..
Price should come down to 500 with free 360 camera.
better specs phone already available in the market
And one of them was rigged by Jerry.:))
Eske Rahn, 28 Sep 2017I bet a lot of potential buyers are holding their breath for the Nokia 9, as this seems a some... moreGood strategy by Nokia. Tactically cautious. Nokia 9 will excel through fixing of the smaller cousins shortcomings. By the time it's launched we would be familiar with lower range. It's called trust which usually grows with perceived confidence by the customers
Make the price $500 and go for a global launch. Mobile phone business is a serious business. If brands have high faluting ideas overlooking the basic aspect such as price , they will fade away into oblivion. For Essential brand, things were not smooth with top official leaving before the launch of the phone. HMD , another new entrant , was also facing the difficulties with Nokia 3,5,6... not matching upto the expectation of consumers but with Nokia 8, it hit the bull's eye. Agressive pricing and top notch hardware with stock software.
I'm not surprised. Make v2 with a headphone jack and under $500 if you want people to buy it.
i am surprised as its really beautiful and solid. great specs... just everything !
essentially dead, I don't think there is any way to recover from that kind of number
They are delayed by many years! People have plenty of choices for that money. They need strategy like Apple to have tie ups with ATT or Sprint offer at ridiculous price with totally new sort of device. Otherwise this will die down in the storm
AnonD-694856, 28 Sep 2017Should have been sold at $500, How come an "Essential" phone doesn't have a headphone jack wh... moreEven that would have been too high. That would have worked for an Essential 2 or plus with more industry standard features like water proof. So far the markets are not easily moved by the brand owner's association with the invention of Android. Did they not already know about Mi mix and new bezeless devices already in the market? Titanium and bezeless features alone won't sell a device. Even Apple has had to up their game in response to the latest designs the industry has to offer.
AnonD-684709, 28 Sep 2017Yes, that would be totally awesome. They should paint an apple on the back and sell it as i... moreLMAO
The only logical thing to do now is to drastically lower the price and take it to the people instead expecting the opposite. They gravely under estimated the level of competition, especially this year for flagships. Lower the damn price now and save the unknown brand
The good old essential.
I knew something like this would happen. But 5000 devices sold? jesus christ...
All that hype build up, bezeless screen, snapdragon 835, etc...
They wanted to innovate and dig directly something from the future, that's not what people want.
Essential ceramic back glass etc...
That's not what people want.
Update to amoled, optimize your system because there are countless bugs. We don't care about bezeless, you should make the phone with bezels.
removing the headphone jack? that's surprisingly idiotish.
One of the reason the onelpus sold so much was merely for 5 reasons:
Amoled display
Snapdragon 835
Near stock android UI
Headphone jack
Battery life.
Compare it to the EsentiaI. Battery life is atrocious, it has stock android UI (thank god) but badly optimized SOC tremendous amount of bugs, no headphone jack (facepalm).
Overall it's a good phone, but the oneplus 5 is better and more importantly, it's cheaper...
Still more sales than Windows phone
Anonymous, 28 Sep 2017http://www.gsmarena.com/kgi_preorders_iphone_x_may_surpass_50_million_units-news-27446.php ... morePreorders doesnt translate to number of sold phone. You keep dreaming. It havent start shipping yet. Not going to start shipping till 3rd November. Plus, Apple scaling back on production down to 40million units only this year. People are gonna get bored waiting for it and move on to better phone.
Jason, 28 Sep 2017It just simply overpriced. Too overpriced for a gadget with mid range specs... I don't think midrange means what you think it means. smh..
Essentially, a disaster. This is what you get when you try to compete with the big boys.
