This h... moreSony can't seem to understand the whole price point thing. Like that Android projector they were charging 1700 for.....it's like a 100 projector....I get it. It has sensors for picking up touches. That's cool. Not brand new but new enough and cool.....So at the still over priced area of $800 I could have at least figured sure they need profit and other companies wouldnt be far off sadly.....but its still over priced....But $1700???????????
And $500 plus for the playstation vr...I get it. A high refresh rate Oled....But even then...

This headset is solely there to allow Sony to keep the price point up. They sold the one last year at a near loss, just to get a foothold. This device isn't an improvement, as the console they connect to is still barely outperforming a smartphone like the Note 8 you referred to as weak. I have a feeling Microsoft's mixed reality headsets will destroy the competition once they launch. Relativity high resolution at a good frame-rate for a good price (lower than this Sony HMD). It also seems like the Windows OEM's are starting to do AAA title exclusives this winter, with Fallout 4 being the outstanding one.

Well, no offence, but even the best phone out there (ie/ Processor and Screen) provides a pretty lacklustre VR experience. I mean the Note8 is arguably the fastest device out there, and has the widest display with the highest pixel density and contrast. Yet, Apps play very "meh".
The PS VR headset is definitely the best quality headset out there, however, the internal display is quite lacking. And the PS4, even the Pro, are quite limited in both the processing and graphics power. Even still, there is a very noticeable improvement over MobileVR. And I attribute that to the slightly more powerful hardware, and a dedicated approach to it by the manufacturer and game developers.
While VR on the PC is still a mess, you can't deny the better display in the Valve Vive or the Facebook OCRift are noticeably better than the cheap one in the PS VR. And feeding these expensive VR Headsets with the visuals from a Gaming PC that actually boasts a tremendous increase in processing and graphical power is definitely noticeable.
....So its no secret, the entire ecosystem is split into three groups. I believe MS might release an Xbox VR Headset for the Scorpio console in 2018, so we should get some more competition if that happens. However, I wouldn't really hold my breath for VR in 2019 for the PS5. Its just that VR hasn't taken off as well as some companies had liked.
