I sold my Pixel a few days ago not because I hated it. Smoothest Android experience I ever had. But because it simply is not worth the price. No microSD slot. No dual cameras. No waterproofing. Design grew on me but still very bland. Oreo also kinda ruined its battery life. There was also keyboard lag and it's more cramped because of the onscreen buttons.
I'm still interested in the Pixel line but wait for Gen 3 or 4 fot it. My phone collection has dwindled from 11 to 8 and woll continue to decrease. I want less clutter. Pixel is still one of my all-time favorites but I'm sticking to my unlocked LG G5 which arrives this Friday. I want Marshmallow back and a flawless phone.
I decided to sell all my phones except three...
LG G5 (Phone), left holster
Apple iPhone SE (Browser), right holster
Motorola Moto E 4G (GPS), car
Even my beloved V20 which I am using as my daily driver right now, I might sell. G5 is as large as I want to go.
Taste is very personal and subjective thing... unless 99/100 ppl say its ugly as f*ck.
Also 650-700$ for a Pixel 2 will translate to over 750eur when it comes to EU.Are they nuts?
Almost looks like Google pretty much gave up on the new Pixel 2... not a fan of bezel-less design but its just damn huge on the new pixel 2 while XL is looking amazing
AnonD-696746, 03 Oct 2017dual camera really? Pixel beaten up all dual camera phone last year.. i take a higher end ... moreIf you are referring to DxO score, Note 8 has 94 now, ties with Apple iphone 8 plus, doubt Pixel 2 or 2 XL will beat that, and I would rather not be forced to buy Wireless headphone or needing to put up with that dongle nonsense, or forced to pay more for basically same phone with just more storage, when a SD card gives me flexibility to have storage suitable to my need for much cheaper price. And yes Note 8 will be fragile compared to Pixel but that's a tradeoff for Wireless charging, i don't care for it much but for many it would be a sweet deal. Note 8 beats S8+ in multitasking so that additional 2 GB ram will come in handy for next 2 years future proofing(OP went with 8 Gigs so that would be even more future proof). So there are lot of positives for 1 negative related to fragility of phone. I am one of those who would put up with a protective (if possible transparent) case any day, after all that's what i did with my nexus 4.
Tann Hauser, 03 Oct 2017LMFAO.
They do give the best BUG for the buck. Bug in design. They sell exactly the same look... moreWhy would you need bezels to operate the device?
What's "boogles" by the way?
what a design disaster. absolutely disgusting appalling device. I don't understand Google. do they like it continue getting the ugliest device in the history title.
My best guess is that there are strategic reasons to market this phone with these specs at these ludicrous prices. It would seem reasonable to me that they don't want to compete to much with other phone manufacturers using Android. If that's not the case, then they'd better cut down the prices with 30%...
AnonD-80334, 03 Oct 2017He's right, Pixel 2 XL will be priced same as note 8, so why not buy that. S-AMOLED (a bit bet... moredual camera really?
Pixel beaten up all dual camera phone last year.. i take a higher end single sensor over dual cheap one.
Samsung note 8 and S8 family are super fragile as well.
At that price i like the phone to not break after one drop and i also like to not be forced to put a case on a beautiful device.
leaf, 03 Oct 2017The speakers better be amazing as that's pretty much the only thing it has over the Note 8. If they improved the camera its gonna be a killer phone.
disappointment , 03 Oct 2017Yah it is disappointing to find and wait for a Google so called "flagship" which comes out aft... more- No dual camera is a let down. Even LG v30 has dual camera which made the pixel XL-2 ( i dont care about gimmick dual camera i take a better single sensor camera over two cheaper one )
- bezel all over....Even though i can deal with that ( you have two choice one with almost no bezel one with Bezel personally i dont like those no bezel phone too easy to break )
- Seems like the only thing that was upgraded was the GPU, CPU and the software. Which are expected every year regardless of being a flagship or not ( should wait to see review , picture quality ect before speaking )
- The price should be at least 150 to 200 dollar cheaper than others since they did not deliver on better hardware. These phones do NOT deserve flagship type price ( again depend what the end result is.. if they are faster , more stable and take better picture than those so called flagship then the price will fit the device)
The XL 2 looks real nice but the price is just too damn high, I ended up picking up a cheap Pixel XL last week and I will probably end up getting a cheap used XL 2 next year.
AnonD-632062, 03 Oct 2017It's almost like HTC's Pixel 2 is trolling LG's Pixel XL 2.
HTC to LG: "You think your ski... moreHTC and LG have no say in the design of the device.
they are designed by Google themselves..
Awesomenesss, 03 Oct 2017Pixel XL looks good.. but Pixel 2 is ugly.. comparing it to S8 and IPhoneX the bezel due to st... morepixel 2 compared to iphone 8 look high tech.
its pixel 2 XL you need to compare to iphone X and Samsung new phones.
pixel 2 should be sold at $250 tops
pixel 2 xl/xl 2 $400
they should fire the idiots at the design department.
google clearly has no place manufacturing ANY phones.
The designs are basically cut and paste from the last pixel, no sd card, no waterproof, no wireless charging, no dual camera, no 6gb ram, less than stellar screen and for the price of a note 8.
i say get the note 8 and let google go down the way of windows phones.
Google, I agree you don't have to jump into the bandwagon of bezel less design. This design is just bland. It is same old plastic. At least design in such a way that the device gives a premium look.
And someone from a previous article mentioned that dual tone body color signifies super premium. What's super or premium about this?
What an ugly bland design. Why does no one make devices as sexy as the Nokia N8 any more?
Pixel 2 bezels reminds me of Nexus 7 (2013)
easier on the grip they say
