although this is good, but I prefer Pixel C successor, and for God sake at least put 4G capability
What in the h*** Google think they are doing? Launching a tablet with ChromeOS and ask for $999?
The worst? It's not even a full function laptop and weight at 1.1kg. You must be kidding me!
AnonD-39937, 04 Oct 2017Can't believe it, they borrowed the back glass window from Google Pixel and put it into Google... moreTo be fair one tend to drop a laptop a lot less than a phone.... (though I somehow have dropped my Surface Book three times already, fortunately inside its briefcase and no harm done)
Raz, 04 Oct 2017A glorified tablet sadly...I'm guessing this is trying to create the Android equiv of the Ipad... moreAnd a bad one at that... as someone who tried the surface craze ... ~1KG tablets are useless... you're forced to use it as an ultrabook the vaaast majority of time and since there are far better ultrabooks why should one even bother w 2in1s...
2in1 would make sense if they could keep in tablet weight , around or below 1 lbr... Anything more and you have to prop the kickstand in which case just buy an ultrabook already...
Bad product is bad.
AnonD-234961, 05 Oct 2017No, you can just skip the whole thing and buy a Surface Pro. Vastly superior in every way. use them at work.As a concept yes they seem amazing, but in real usage they are buggy , freeze and have lots of other small issues. Stay away
A ChromeOS with Linux VM and/or Docker support ... that'll be my machine.
Fayth, 05 Oct 2017can it run Photoshop, Illustrator, etc?
can I wipe the whole thing and install windows? No, you can just skip the whole thing and buy a Surface Pro. Vastly superior in every way.
Fayth, 05 Oct 2017can it run Photoshop, Illustrator, etc? can I wipe the whole thing and install windows? Why not just buy a Surface Pro if that's what you're looking to do? Specs and price point are similar.
can it run Photoshop, Illustrator, etc?
can I wipe the whole thing and install windows?
"A tablet" ... oh it better not be. At 1.1 kg it would be akward to hold as a tablet/book. Those ultra heavy "tablets" should be and remain ultrabooks. Like that awful surface series of Microsoft, terrible tablet, terrible laptop... You can't near 1KG and call it a tablet anymore that we do not call 5Kg desktop replacement "ultrabooks".
Touch enabled ultrabooks are still ultrabooks ... the end.
Anonymous, 04 Oct 2017Mac is not replaceable. It runs macOS which none other devices apart from Apple's have. But you dont need Mac OS and maybe you should google Hackintosh, so you see, others run Mac OS as well ;)
ProJames, 04 Oct 2017A Celeron is more than enough for Chrome OS.

Anony, 04 Oct 2017I hope it will support windows or design softwares. That would be pc and Mac killer.+1
A Celeron is more than enough for Chrome OS.
I'd never buy a Chromebook with more than an i3 because that's really overkill. But with my type of daily usage (Video editing, web design, games and heavy multitask) I am forced to get a Windows Laptop anyways.
If we learn after that this has a Core iX 8-series, then I'll laugh at everyone that bought it. That's "Money wasting × Capitalism" 101.
Obi Wan Kenobi, 04 Oct 2017Not bad. Most people didn't expect to see those specs..... The price is kinda high though (as... morePointless to have that high specs, and very expensive, for something that basically only is the Chrome webbrowser!
Anonymous, 04 Oct 2017Mac is not replaceable. It runs macOS which none other devices apart from Apple's have.i run windows 90% of the time in my macbook pro :)
now on topic i dont understand why you need such specs for browser OS and that price is way too high
