Dude, it's better to buy a Sony Xperia with higher features rather than going for other flagships like S8+ and Iphones which is costing more than Sony without those hardcore features provides like Sony!!!

AnonD-706891, 09 Oct 2017I have owned almost every Sony phone ever made. All the way back through the Ericsson days. I ... morez3 was great as well but it all went downhill after that. Granted, the XZ1, XZP, and XZ1c are decent phones. Especially the xz1c which broke battery endurance tests and is the fastest phone.

It doesn't really matter, only very few Sony phones will be sold. The few who buy them are the hardcore fans, and they're okay with paying extra for the Sony brand premium.

I have owned almost every Sony phone ever made. All the way back through the Ericsson days. I even worked on the Xperia Test Lab for a few years. I love Sony and love their innovation and ideas when it comes to the mobile phone industry. However, ever since the Z2, they haven't been the same. Especially with the camera. Each generation they seem to get a little worse.

I have been rocking a Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact for a week(U.K. variant which has a fingerprint scanner).
I love it so far, especially with the addition of Nova or Action Launcher.

But, This is my X Perform 24mm lens shot....

It has barely visible distortion for a wide FOV camera, if properly centered of course.
I didnt take notice about distortions when I got it, probably had it as it is 24mm lens, but I update it frequently, I guess they rectified those with updates, as they are barely visible...
So I believe updates will fix the distortions on XZ1 too, for affected users.

I'm very angry at SONY for how they tell the false information and lie to Xperia's user which sound like they underestimate the user.
Hope they will release the fix or shape correction just like Samsung.

Users of XZ Prem report the issue with pincushin distortion is indeed lessened by newer updates. Some say manual focus in auto rectifies it.
For ex, sammy did throw in a software option to lessen this wide FOV lens issue, but users have to turn on the option manually.
I guess Sony will do it too through updates.
