Nothing wrong with the pixels, just the price is too steep. The camera software and update schedule are great, but I feel they need some extra premium feature or more competitive pricing to get more sales.

        Disappointing approach to Apple, too expensive, no audio Jack, looks terrible, does not really offer anything special. There is better offer from Samsung or LG or some Chinese brands

              These phones are simply very ugly like some old Chinese phone.

                Guys, just get oneplus 5. 8GB ram, 128 storage, headphone jack, extremely fast fingerpring scanner on the front, very loud loudspeaker, pure android with some tuning-ups, oxygen os-exclusive functions, which are extremely useful, extremely fast fast-charging, dial sim, unlocked, and low price. I got mine for 485 with 10% student discount. and no tax :)

                  I love the pixel 2 xl.

                  My problem with pixel 2xl were:
                  1. Not dual sim (i travel a lot)
                  2. Small battery. I want 5000mah or 6000mah (i travel a lot)
                  3. Need bigger screen. 6" 18:9 is not productive enough (i travel a lot)

                    On the writer of the article:

                    Did you seriously pittied 1080p against QHD+ and found out that 1080p on a phone is a deal breaker?

                    I bet you, I *bet* you that you can't tell the difference in every day usage. 400+ PPI is incredibly dense and 500+ (of QHD+) is not that much better. Can you say diminishing returns?

                    I honestly won't buy a car that does 180 miles per hour over one that does 150 mph because it.makes.no.freaking.difference.

                    There are some useful trends that started in 2017. One of them is bezeless display, the death of legacy ports is another and dual camera is a third. Can you talk about those instead of QHD+ which is ... meh?

                    Also there were negative trends too. Smaller batteries per inch, complete dissapearance of infinite autonomy, an aspect ratio that is very useful to those who message a lot but not useful to those who browse a lot (i.e. the needs of the many trumped the needs of the fewer), complete dissapearance of non phablet sizes (again, acquited taste... "the needs of many..."). We can take of those too... but QHD+? I have not seen anything more neutral than that for years...

                      I can live without an SD card slot. Owned a Nexus 5X, software was great, hardware was lackluster. Phone for developers. The Pixels have more flair, but last year's version was a bit big on huge bezels with nothing to show for them. This year's version has the same problem, but at least it has stereo speakers. Probably would have gone for the XL variant, but there's a few problems:
                      *currently own an LG G6 w/ QuadDAC. It comes with fast charger in the box;
                      * got a 64Gb card inside. Coupled with 64Gb internal storage it's plenty of space. Losing half of it would suck now that I've gotten accustomed to it;
                      *no wide-angle camera on the Pixels. Don't care much about telephoto lens, and bokeh effect can be had through software, imperfect as it may be.
                      *it has dual front-facing speakers, which I'd use every now and then, but it lacks a headphone jack, which I use all the time when charging my phone. Plus better quality sound vs wireless headphones, which are not my cup of tea for daily use and it's another gadget you need to keep charging to use. I don't want to have to wait for my headphones to charge for x amount of hours before I can listen to my music undisturbed. I like my options; I'd rather use wired cans while waiting for the wireless ones to charge at home, then take the wireless cans once they're charged and go jogging while continuing to listen to my music. Hate having to care for a little adapter all the time.
                      *pricing. G6 had a pretty low price when I got it, and the resale price would probably be lower still. Add to that Europe's increased prices and I'd have to spend the money received for the G6 and an extra 1.2 times that amount of euros for the P2XL. Same 18:9 aspect ratio, adds stereo speakers, adds newer processor and better main camera and software to go with it, removes expandable storage, removes headphone jack, locks fast charging behind an extra purchase, easily misplaced dongle adapter if you want wired audio, removes secondary camera, doesn't record stereo audio, music playback experience probably worse than my G6. Not worth it for me. Google is going after Apple's piece of the pie more and more. If the trend continues, the 5X will stay my last Google phone.

                        How can you not like the XL2? Damn near perfect all it's missing is a SD card slot.

                          Anonymous, 08 Oct 2017Well, everyone wants to earn their money and the more the merrier, you don't have to buy them ... moreYes, the classic argument: You dont have to point and laugh at the stupidity, just let us be stupid silently. And in all honesty, you really outdid yourself Anon by planting a hypocritical statement in EVERY sentence you keyed in.

                          - Google did not "earn their money" if they just slapped a high price tag on something which doesnt earn its keep.
                          - These phones are by no means the "best". People can flush their money down the toilet if they want to.
                          - What is truly laughable is that, " those who can't really afford it but just have to get it" is textbook cult mentality. And you are advocating for that very thing by defending a sub-par+overpriced device as...beats me, whatever your explanation for doing it is.
                          - Oh yes you do. The same reason why you would buy this even IF you dont need.

                          And in case you were trying to turn this into some personal dig against me, you can relax your thumping heart. I am actually in need of a phone since my current one is getting old and yes I can afford it, but have enough sense that I wont burn money over a brand name placeholder alone. No matter how much I would hold it in good regards.

There are people with plenty of extra cash to spend and they just want the best. What is more laughable are those who can't really afford it but just have to get it. But between these two and the newly launched pixelbook prices...I am not happy at the direction google is taking. If they want a slice of the cult pie, of sheeple who hungrily gobble up any outlandishly priced device with mediocre by comparison specs...I worry about the future of technology as a whole.

                                  Companies competing with each other to bring higher quality devices at lower costs, means the customer wins.

This thing costs twice the price of one plus 5 and Nokia 8 in India. Why buy this then? 3 years support? Nokia gonna get p and r anyways. Camera. SLR please.
