It ... moreTo be fair it did do the whole infinity display thing, added Bixby (digital assistant) and general improvements like the increased storage on the phone. Compared to an iphone it's just as capable but more innovative due to the infinity display which has practical benefit in giving more screen space with less real world size increase.
You end up with a phone that is still generally stylish and unique due to the edge screen curvings that Samsung does and no one else does, matches iphones and others on general specs and features anyway but then has a more modern screen design. Overall I can't imagine why it isn't the best phone and short of the issue you mention it still came out better than the competition (excepting really personal needs like if someone needs the absolute best camera or whatnot but that's more personal choice rather than proper best all rounder). Iphone 8 is simply playing catch up and doing things like wireless charging that Samsung already had but still nothing worth escalating it above Samsung.

Anonymous, 09 Oct 2017The more powerful mobile SoC's you have the longer it can last before it reaches its limit. So... moreNope, what I meant is stick 8895 to SOB such as Odroid C2 to get full potential out of it.
And no, the more powerful the CPU is, the faster it hits the throttling threshold and more extremely than slower CPU. Smaller lithography might help a bit (10nm vs 14nm), but not indefinitely.

So midrange and low tier SoC's will give in much earlier or won't even be able to perform those tasks.
The spacious PCB you refer to is called a desktop or laptop and they have a completely different and more powerful processors.

Regardless of whether it's 8895, S835 or A11.
Stick it on spacious PCB, give it a modestly sized heatsink and we're in business.

best phone of the year must be near-bezelless, while xperia has HUGE, ENORMOUS bezels.
not a chance
kakouille, 06 Oct 2017Do you understand english? Moto E4 was awarded Best Value Phoneit surely is not worth the value when compared to Mi phones

They do realize that S8 was the lowest effort flagship in the history of Samsung right?
It is literally the first flagship to take a step back in performance (same every day performance, worse battery than its predecessor) and basically only update its looks...
Me thinks this kind of behavior should be punished instead of being rewarded...
I thought Xperia XZ Premium was the best phone of the year. I bet you can fit Monaco in XZP's bezels.
Well agree, one of the best screen and design, superb camera, good battery life, probably best android chipset, superb software support and features, Samsung provides quality
AnonD-684631, 06 Oct 2017After 7nm Exynos debut in note 9 , that is the real revolution. But now iPhone loses to Note 8 ... moreYou got it wrong mate, this test shows internal memory speed and ram management optimisation on 3gb vs 6gb, which is not really fare on iPhone side with less than double Ram, it is basically has nothing to do with a chipset itself, A11 unfortunately destroumys on any benchmark 8895 and leaves it really badly behind, it is best chipset for years to come, 8895 is between iPad air 2 A8X and A9 level
AnonD-705970, 06 Oct 2017Xzp destroy note 8 half gas. https://youtu.be/bbZHuB05_K0 No one cares about these stupid speed tests. XZP is 0.1 second faster because it has less pixels to push. In fact, note 8 has done a better job because it has to push 2x pixels(4.2mil pixels vs 2 mil pixels) than XZP. Samsung's optimizations matters here. In real life, you can't detect that 0.1 second difference and both phones will be fast. And that increased resolution is essential for VR. Support for VR=future proof whereas XZP don't support. I don't know why it's name has the word 'premium' although there is no premium features. To ask premium price?
Anonymous, 06 Oct 2017get out with your xzp lol it's a phone from 2012So Sony sd835,4k,960 fps etc is 2012..
I didn't remember any Samsung in 2012 with any feature of xzp
Salute to your brain dear
AnonD-633729, 06 Oct 2017You are wrong. S8 can still be used even after drop from 1000ft. Watch youtube. Why will I watch youtube when I have experienced and I'm writting it out of frustration. I admit it's a great phone but it's also non durable and its a fact. I can post my cracked s8 on FB.
[deleted post]Then I suggest you perform your own testing instead, then upload it on the internet and we'll comment nothing but saying it's fake. :)
AnonD-684631, 06 Oct 2017After 7nm Exynos debut in note 9 , that is the real revolution. But now iPhone loses to Note 8 ... moreIt took Samsung and Qualcomm a 10nm SoC to beat the 16nm A10 Fusion, or not even beat but just match up.
At the same time, it will take Samsung and Qualcomm a 7nm SoC to match up or slightly beat the 10nm A11 Bionic SoC of Apple.
There's nothing wrong with admitting that Apple's SoCs are still the best in the industry of mobile smartphones.
Only Huawei's Kirin SoCs can stand a chance against them.
Rumors say that QCSD845's Single Core performance will be similar to the ones of the 2015 A9 SoC.
