"16+" stops of DR? If that's for a single frame, that blows away what the human eye can do. If it's achieved using traditional hdr methods, it's still pretty good, though only about 1/32 as good as our eye.

He managed to obtain a similar experience, in fact, the post editing allowed V30's footage to have more color than the RED camera. The RED managed to get a better dynamic range but not that much.
And despite multi milion $ budget, state of the art cameras, and expirienced photographers.....
They still produced crap movies, year upon year new bottom!
Why? Because there is no one left who will use "two buck's" pencil to write a decent script.
Sony Xperia FOREVER, 08 Oct 2017no smartphone EVER would even have 2% of this camera specs... this is a pro cinematic beast! lolit's the man behind the camera that shoots a great movie, not the camera he owns. In other words even with a phone he can be great.
Mohammed Habra, 07 Oct 2017I'll be waiting for LG V40 to compete with this monster ...no smartphone EVER would even have 2% of this camera specs... this is a pro cinematic beast! lol

Mohammed Habra, 07 Oct 2017I'll be waiting for LG V40 to compete with this monster ...I'm not sure if people even read the article. This Monstro 8K VV is not a smartphone. RED is a high-end cinema camera manufacturer. No phone can compete cinema quality picture. This new camera is most probably aimed at Hollywood et al film industry. Normal people dont need to complain. You only pay ticket to watch movies shot with this thing. No one asking you all to buy this expensive camera. Chances are it would be a waste in the hand of unskilled average people.
I wanna see new Nokia (HMD Global) smartphone with big sensor (~ 1/1.2 - 1/1,5 sensor size) like Nokia 808 PureView. Maybe even one ~ 4,7-5 inches (Sony Compact, iPhone 8) and another ~ 5,5-5,7 inches (Note 8, iPhone 8P). And aslo xenon flash, IP68 certified or IP54 and removable battery, AMOLED , FM radio, HDMI port, good loudspeaker, 3.5mm jack (its madness that you have to mention 3,5...), extensive manual controls etc.
Anonymous, 08 Oct 2017Just from the money you need to pay for the carbon fiber upgrade, I would buy a new Mercedes C-ClassBut but but that won't be an upgrade to the RED camera in any way. Will that be?

For all people who said it's expensive, ridiculous, or something like that. RED manufacturing high-end TOOLS for PROFESSIONALS, who earning money with this one. Of course, you CAN do some videos worth few likes in Facebook with your smartphone. But if you want to make a movie that will entertain people in cinemas - you will need a proper tools. Like RED cameras. Avid software. Maya, 3d max or something like that. Expensive storages. And lot of people too. That's called real job, guys. People don't wasting money if they are professionals. They just don't you are.
For as little as 100k you can own a future, all the videos you shoot will be playable on the 8k tv's in near future. So pick up your crew and make some nice blockbuster, you will have plenty of time to make it perfect
