Never once did I state or even imply that any device was waterproof.
Someone else comment and my reply.
"So you're aware you're complaining about design?
How isn't the pixel."waterproof" (lookup the specifications of ip67 & ip68)?"
Waterproof: impervious to water
Water-resistant: able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely.

What's the sensor size of the iPhone 8? I'm thinking it's the same 1/3 but not sure. I read it has image stacking, which is good, but it still cannot beat S8, S7 nor the Pixel and Pixel 2.

A smaller sensor isn´t progress, it´s only progress for their profits. But I´m sure for you everything is progress what huge corporations are doing only because they are huge companies.

This might be my fault, however, because I interpreted you're earlier comment as a complaint that the new pixels aren't "waterproof" like the Galaxy devices. If you don't think those are "waterproof" then I mistook your intention.

Love how Google managed to do their portrait mode with the help of AI instead of dual cameras (you know, like Apple) Google's already surpassed Apple with Pixel 2. All iPhone has going for it now is customer loyalty and brand recognition.

I am saying the rear cameras of iPhones are made to be used as the front cameras since the sensors are so small (1/3 in.).
Other phone manufacturers are using that size for the front facing cameras (1/3") while using 1/2.3 or 1/2.5 for rear facing cameras.

Maybe there is cost constraints, maybe implementing larger sensor will still require designs with larger camera protrusions on device designs (running contrary with OEM's current slimmer and more uniform design philosophies).....who knows.
What I'm saying is that whatever the reason, it doesn't seem to be the direction the market is currently looking to go in.
But all is not lost, the results coming off devices like this Pixel 2 are amazing, and that's down to impressive work being done in the field of computational photography.
Having said all that, could be we see something hit the market next year with say a 1/1.2 (or bigger) sensor. It's just that everything I've been reading from various sources doesn't suggest we expect it.
Well it's a 2017 flagship, you expected anything less?
God with the speed technology is evolving ha? We will be having almost dslr cameras in smartphones pretty soon.

Ip68 is better than ip67.
Ip68 devices : m4 aqua, m5, z3... moreYes IP68 is better than IP67, but it could also be very similar, IP68 allows for the manufacturer to determine the depth provided it is 1m or more, and the duration 100% up to the manufacturer, so you could end up with a phone that is 1m for 5 minutes if they wanted.
IP67 is locked by the definition, must be up to 1m and must be 30 minutes to not allow water that could harm the device

You can see that they still need some work on the algorithm for bokeh, many fuzzy edges, and parts of the image that should be blurred and not blurred, although in saying that, it must be much easier for them to achieve this only having one camera, than that of the dual camera phones
