Good riddance. Let's not forget they're the reason Meego died in the first place.

To be honest, it seems most jumped ship to Android because it offered them everything and more over Windows.

You really didnt have much of a choice really because Windows came pre-installed or on a disk to be installed once you got it home. Macs were rare and really expensive, only for high end graphical applications.

They deserve it.

I have been a faithful user of Nokia > Windows phone > Microsoft until new Nokia androids get released. Windows was easy, simple but options-less. They didn't bother much to improve it to impress users. Also they didn't bother to make good hardware as Nokia did.

Good bye Lumia

of course its gonna be dead, first no wallpaper only a lock screen picture... then the configuration is very lets say **weak I mean the OS does not have like that graphical design that the user is looking for everything is just black white or a solid color so in other words is missing details and visual resources and that's the first thing that the users want from a phone, then the apps, how the F*** at this time you will tell me that instagram is not available for windows phone, I had to download an alternative instagram version... anyways im glad that they know that is dead and I hope that they can develop another OS not Based on windows because you know computer Os and phone Os cant be similar like that computer is on thing and phone is another thing

LG superfan, 09 Oct 2017What about surface phone?Windows 8 works without issue

Windows 10 essentially acts more like malware than an O/S

The plan was all W8 phones would receive the first Windows 10 release, Microsoft ignored the fact that W10 caused major error as it wanted to launch the Lumia 950

Windows 10 is so toxic and un-repairable that even HP that launched the Elite 3 has discontinued the phone which us under 2 years old

Samsung pulled the Note 7 because of exploding batteries
Contrast that with Microsoft who stopped selling phones due to the W10 problems. A lot of the promised features haven't been implemented.

If the Surface phone had gone forward , it could have any of the unstable Windows 10

The starting point would have been developing Window 8

That would have been a step back to go forward but at least Windows phones would be live and kicking

You have to see this as a loss as there are now only 2 Operating Systems Android & iOs

Before Windows 8 there was Windows 7 phones, major players including Samsung had a
Windows 7 phone. Windows 7 did not have memory expansion and were single core so mirrored Apple iPhone, Android did not have these limitations.
Had Microsoft released Windows 8 sooner there would have been other players using Windows and not just Nokia, this delay meant that App developers left also

It was clear to Microsoft that Windows 10 was a disaster, and that running Windows 10 even on the Lumia 950 which was supposed to run it out of the box
W10 is a lemon that produces a variety of faults including constant restarts

Windows 8 works, I simply would nit swap my W8 phone for a brand new Lumia 950

Dispite all this news i can say windows 10 OS for phones was the best OS ever to happen on a smartphone! It was only crippled by the craze of more apps, I wish Microsoft couldnt give up on this platform that easily.

[deleted post]Lemme educate you abit! A platform which is vulnerable to viruses and hacking is actually that platform that is popular to many users (e.g Android & IOS) Why should hackers interested in hacking windows platform while there are a handful of users there?! It's simple logic hope you get my point.

Users will not buy unless there are many apps.
Apps will not be developed unless there are many users.
And good old Microsoft spent all this time mesmerized watching this fascinating catch 22 until it got bored to death.
