I saw a data (in phonearena I think) that shows that iOS is gaining grounds in USA and China, android share is falling. Even in my country people are thinking about buying IPhones.

Right now, all fans of android (be it Sony, Samsung, LG, Oneplus whatever) needs to be on the same page. Otherwise, the mobile market will be dictated by Apple, and that will be horrible.

People here - you not in the right direction!

The biggest failure of Samsung concerns the premium TV market (those that cost 1500$ and up).
Samsung's sales in this category had sunk in the recent two years!

This concerns Samsung not able to match LG's OLED TVs, and using gimmicks like curved displays and fake tech like QLED (which is just branding for plain old LCD TVs).

This doesn't concern the corruption made by Samsung's top managers, and I don't think it concerns the smartphone business, which was quite successful (except for the note 7).

SZtadir, 13 Oct 2017Samsung is doing just fine. And to be truthful, android needs Samsung to stay competitive with... moreHi
Unlike you, I don't think so!
Giant of Samsung ≠ Giant of Google & his property (android) Before since, I saw Tizen and present day bixby! Am sure Samsung's smart phones are death point in history of android! This operating system is still alive! Reason!? In my opinion Samsung is not main reason! Light, light and lighter and more and more stability of OS in Sony's smart phones, htc also nexus series or pixels but Samsung!? Never was...

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2017So my assumption that people actually read the article before commenting was not true...Of course no. They just read the title and talk about unrelated things they see in their heads. They are the social media generation that only understands black and white and doesn't understand context. Here's something from another page:

The trial of billionaire Lee Jae-Yong has just ended, and he was sentenced to five years in prison. It’s the end of a long process that also led to the impeachment of South Korea's former president, Park Geun-Hye.

Samsung and its ruling bodies knew for some time that this is coming, as the trial which also involved Lee Jae-Yong has been going on for a while. Now that the trial has ended and the billionaire is going to prison, the CEO of Samsung has no other alternative on the table but to resign.

It’s also fair to say that Lee Jae-Yong wasn’t really involved in Samsung operations, so the resignation of its CEO is more of self-preservation, and has no relation to the trial itself.

Of course, the letter does not name the crisis, but it’s easy to see what it means. This will also send a powerful message to the shareholders, and it wouldn’t surprise anyone to see the company take a hit on the stock market.

On the other hand, its latest mobile devices, Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus registered record sales, and Samsung is well on its way for a really profitable year. It remains to be seen how will Samsung will deal with this entire situation.

Of course they are in crisis. Imposing extra fragile screens with unwanted curved edges, non-removable batteries, and price tags skyrocket.

at the same time worldwide economy is getting worse and worse, people losing jobs and getting pay cuts. some countries are in pre-war state (if you open your eyes, it becomes crystal clear).

There's just little to no place in the world for 1000 EUR Note 8 that do not even met its target audience expectations!!

time to change, samsung, and you better do it fast.

And to be truthful, android needs Samsung to stay competitive with Apple. Apple is doing whatever they feel like and no one seems to be courageous enough to challenge them. Samsung is the only one keeping Apple in check (unlike Google, who is following Apple).

I don't like Samsung that much, I much prefer Sony (and buy Sony). But Android fans need Samsung more than any other company currently in the market.

I hope this doesn't effect samsung, if it is, where do you guys(especially isheep) will get the one of the best mobile display in the market(LG P-OLED is still new and need some tweak) and also, samsung is the only android brand that can rival apple iphone in flagship market(thus, make the mass people realize that apple is not the only flagship premium phone in the world)

Random comments here -
1. So, the supposed "record profit" was fake news...
2. According to previous lose and his failures in gs8's sells also earlier in gn8's sells! I have an idea: neo shop of Samsung in Mars! I guess of course

My suggestion to you guys - Next time read the news properly before blurting out nonsense.

P.S> The crisis the 64-year old is referencing does have its roots in the 5-year jail term awarded recently by a South Korean court to the company's billionaire heir-apparent Lee Jae-yong for corruption.
