Screen is just more contrasty on the J7+, but XA1+'s screen is one of a kind for a mid ranger, which is comparable to a HDR IPS LCD on a flagship device.
As a multimedia device, the XA1+ also has one of the loudest speakers on a mid range smartphone, and battery life is just about as good if not better than the J7+. Oh, and it's a Sony; MORE AND BETTER UPDATES AND SUPPORT.
Camera wise, the 23mp IMX300 sensor on it was once a flagship sensor, so it's definitely going to kill the one on the J7+.

Used one for 2 years and new ones are nothing but o... moreyeah i am agree with you , 1.2016 series looks as heck , both front and back 2.prime looks good for 2.5D aaand tft, that's why they're over priced for . they have FP 3.new / pro series are not budget enough but good phones still have low internal storage . Original J7 was very comfortable in hands , good camera and battery, back design and J5 good price

Samsung is releasing so many variants of J7 and others, but it updates almost none. I own J7 2016 and it's still running on Marshmallow, altough some countries got Nougat like two months ago. And also, so many people are complaining that Nougat is causing battery drain, and there is still no update or fix from Samsung, as far as I saw. So yeah, they better focus on updating their lower end and midrange phones, instead of releasing other version (of something that is almost the same) every month. I mean, don't get me wrong dual cameras and stuff, it's nice, but releasing something and then not updating it just annoys me.
