GUYs - cool down !!!! dont smash the HTC..
Now they understood all our HTC Desire users feeling reverted back what they anounced."HTC pulls a 180, now says Gingerbread is coming to Desire" .
Please update my dear gsmarena,HTC now says Gingerbread is coming to Desire things has changed
and so the ruin of Android, I always prefer Nokia because of this...
Been running Gingerbread for a VERY long time....google 'Oxygen XDA AdamG'. Who cares what HTC do? I know I don't......
seems like HTC is going back their words and gonna update Desire to 2.3
Well, till now HTC fan. They are better then Samsung via update etc...
Really disapointed, not any more HTC fan.
HTC has taken a U-turn and desire WILL get GB. they just posted on HTC UK facebook page
So it look like HTC is taking back their words.
This is what they say "Contrary to what we said earlier, we are going to bring Gingerbread to HTC Desire."
Released March 2010 this phone is ancient history. I'm sad to say but that's how short the lifecycle of a modern smartphone is. Does it have to be this way....NO if you ask me. That's how the market has developed into. If they(HTC, SE, SAMMY, LG etc.) kept supporting older model smartphones, it would lengthen the smartphones "lifecycle", resulting a lower sale of newer smartphones. Thus giving a loss in profit. It's all about profit maximization.
Root it. Rom it.
i have question to htc company. Why you made low memory in htc desire. why you donot buy kingstone 8gb or 16gb memory stick and fit it in htc desire phone memory. i know you played game with htc users so thay can buy new htc phone in future for good memory
"Yesterday (that's 11.05.2011) at Google I/O, Google announced that it was forming an alliance with phone manufacturers and carriers to ensure more reliable updates for Android users. Revealed during the keynote yesterday, Google hasn’t provided full details just yet, but we do know which companies are on board and how long they'll be supporting hardware for.
Google revealed that the new guidelines mean future hardware will be supported for 18 months after launch. That means you can count on your phone receiving all compatible updates for a year and a half after you buy it. LG, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, AT&T, Vodafone, Sprint, Samsung, (*cough)HTC(*cough) and Verizon Wireless have all signed up so far".
Pretty nice, right ?
htc u-turn desire will be getting gingerbread
quote from htc facebook
Contrary to what we said earlier, we are going to bring Gingerbread to HTC Desire.
htc desire comes with 1ghz proc. 576mb ram 512mb rom
htc wildfire s 600mhz proc. 512mb ram 512mb rom when it comes with gingerbread
and htc desire is having higher resultion than htc wildfire s
if wildfire can come with gingerbread why not htc desire.......
now the official german page announced that gingerbread is coming again :)
Users were complaining about older versions of Android lagging with certain handsets, so the manufacturers started using faster processors with more RAM which started the whole HARDWARE RACE.
Now, phones released just 12 months ago are now obsolete because Android bloatware demands the faster rescources
Now you see the benefit of a closed OS like iOS and Symbian, Devices that are getting updates for more than 2 years instead of just one. Just give me better displays and new features and I'll put up with longer loading times for software which works just as well on all formats.
It is very sad that HTC lie to us! Customers are hard to find but so easy to lose!
Anonymous, 15 Jun 2011right so you have a froyo firmware equipped handset? , does it work? , can it make calls? do a... moreI know that I can root my phone, but it always better to get it the official way! At that time of my purchase it one of the high end phone HTC has any because the HTC Sense UI is very useful for me. By the way HTC make a promise that "HTC DESIRE WILL GET GINGERBREAD 2.3 UPDATE" that why I buy this phone!
