Not my first but surely Desire is my last HTC made phone.
No wonder Google choosed Samsung for their next Nexus.
If anybody from HTC reads this, ask for help from XDA...
384 MB RAM - xperia x10 will get 2.3.3
So what is wrong with HTC now?????
really bad news.. will that's a good reason to stop buying htc devices & only get google devices. Desire & nexus one have the sane specs even news devices have less specs & they running 2.3 sorry htc but I will never buy any new device from u again.
Obviously, Desire S just came out.
HTC being so cheap on memory it piss me off that they charge a lot too for their device.
As per my understanding there isn't any notable differences between Froyo and Gingerbread. So this is not going to be a bad news. But if HTC treat their customers like this, they will start losing them. Their intention is clear that is they want every one to discard the old phones and go for the new ones. But after buying a phone paying high price and then discarding them after a few months once the new product is available is not a digesting fact. Thanks to the custom ROMs, atleast we need not depend on the phone manufactures to enjoy the full benefit of our phone.
To be honest its not great from HTC TO DO THIS......i'm a Mobile phone dealer in Ireland and i've been emailing HTC for the last month requesting an update for Gingerbread.......on my desire but also other customers HTC handsets............again no response from them to my emails......We started selling Apple iphone and i think there will customers moving soon......
Used to be an HTC fanboy. That announcement is a disgrace for HTC. I owned 4 HTC smartphones. Never again. Only Smasung or LG in the future.
Sucks desire, heat problem and now won't have gingerbread, what a nitemare, should have optimus 2x better
thats why buy samsung ;)
My milestone is running on gingerbread (cyanogenmod7) with only 256 mb of ram very smooth.
The desire can't do it with 576 mb of ram. Shame on you htc
I have HTC Desire and I am running Android 2.3.4 for quite some time now :))
no wonder. phone is more then a year old. froyo is totaly ok. and if you still want gingerbread you can flash it with litle help from good old xda.
Do they really think we are going to buy HTC again? Nooooo, we are going to turn to more reliable brands like Apple, Google, Samsung. I just bought desire because I thought we are going to get the update. HTC, you just became one of these companies who they promise one thing, and they don't deliver and lie at the same time.
I am so disappointed.
What a bunch of losers at HTC, how far can you drop as a failing softwareengineering department and especially failing with such corporate management from a so called high technology company, to decide for no update.
Really, not being able to update software?
HTC means 'High Tech computer Company', not anymore now!
This is less then LOW TECH, this is NO TECH at all, and losing in competition with the others.
This will hurt HTC's business definitly. This is the worst advertising for any company.
This means HTC marketed the Desire as a super smartphone in 2010, updateted the software after 3 months and then no updates, services and support anymore. Basicly there telling us, thanks for the money and now go fuck your selfs.
Guess what, this was the last time I bought a phone from HTC.
Can't they update just android. We don't want the ugly sense interface!!!
