Neither, because both compromise too much, neither has a screen with all the bells and whistles, and that also applies to the overall features such as RAM, storage expandability, audio jack.
For my next device i was looking for a hamburger with the lot so to speak , but it seems whatever mate 10 device you buy , you cannot get a device with the full array of features .
If you want six gb of ram there's no headphone jack , etc , etc..
Each model seems to have something missing which is disappointing.

Which Huawei Mate 10 is the right one for me? The one with the headphone jack. 4GB of RAM is fine. 64GB is ok too since it also has a micro SD slot. I can't stomach Android flagships that are trying to copy apple for all the wrong reasons. It's why I jumped ship from supporting the pixel.

-inconvenient aspect ratio.
-Mediocre mono speaker.
I'm not sure i'd buy it even if it was priced as a midranger.
Huawei screwed up big time on this year's Mate series. How hard is it to just make one outstanding phone instead of so many models that all have some glaring omissions to features?
Nothing came on the market before my old G4 started to give up, so in the end I got a Galaxy S8+, it's OK, it has a nice screen, reasonable camera but that's about it. Not really enjoying the phone that much. I'll look to sell the S8+ when something outstanding comes along in a few months time.
Would I choose either of these two? No. Because I would expect to have an SD card slot as standard for top money for one thing and there's nothing outstanding on either phone.
The Real Guest, 22 Oct 2017When a phone costs around the price of an iPhone. You buy an iPhone. Yes, you pay a tax for a logo.Yeah you pay for the loss of customisation and a company that assumes you are an idiot.
What I would have liked:
- the Mate 10 pro form factor
- FHD IPS screen to have better battery life in web surf
- fingerprint reader at the back
So neither of them fits my needs. However, I'll go for the 10 pro, because the 'vanilla' one is not sold in my country. I web surf a lot on my Mate 9, and I guess for that usage the 10 pro will have a poorer battery life (but better in video). I'll do without a SD port. And I don't mind the loss of mini-jack.

Also 6gb configuration is about the market, as Huawei somehow believes the international market does not have demand for the 6gb and so we see that in China they do sell the 6gb variant of Mate 10.
