Interesting as your article is, I can't see Apple doing that anytime soon, if ever again. I only own a first gen shuffle 512mb as it could also be used as simple flash drive at the time. I was an ipod person. I started with the 30GB iPod Photo, then the iPod Video. Later I moved to the iPod touch 2g onwards. At one point I even bought the iPhone 4S when Nokia 's death was looming. But sadly the iPhone was never for. I new this so why I ask myself. I have an iPad but that's different. The iPhone was a smartphone for none smartpeople. I say this now but no to offend but to state that due to it's limitations. It's designed for those who are not tech minded but need to been intouch wth the latest mobile tech. Not me I went Android. Apple shot it's self in the foot when it launched the iPhone by adding a music player onboard,. I think they knew this though, as there was no need to buy or carry arround a nother device. Ok so I do miss the iPod as it as become an iconic symbol of what was the next gen in portable music. My ladt iPod was the iPod touch 5th gen. It was plagued with issues especially battery from the start and by now people were storing their music on their mobiles. And with Apple announcing the end for portable music players I too went that way.

Who wrote this joke?
Waterproof up to 50m and on top of that a headphone jack? Please take some physics class.
10 hours of music playback? Another joke. Most old mp3 players have much longer playback time.
8GB of storage in 2018?
Less than 100$ and made by apple?

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2017Should be just built into headphones this time around. You already have that in the Sony Walkman headphones: https://www.sony.es/electronics/walkman/nw-ws620-series

Apple won't reimagine shit. They are not an innovative company anymore. Just borrowing old features from the competition.

What a delusional inaccurate article you made !
First of all, no way Apple would ever make something like that. iPod is the past. A glorious one, but still the past. Period.
Apple music has iPhone and now Apple watch in mind.
By the way, you want a device with a clip and an optical heart rate monitor (🤔!!!) a GPS receive and everything below $100... You're dreaming

I feel bad for this person..
And yet again I see the flexibility of using Android. I don't think I'll ever have this problem. Samsung wireless earphones have 4GB internal memory. To be specific 4GB each. You can just leave your phone at home and go for a run. I always download a song in MP3 that way it stays with me forever no matter how many years pass.

Anonymous, 22 Oct 2017If one is an Apple fan the lack of anything should bother anyone at all.Well, the author of this article is a self-confessed Apple "fan-man", yet he was bothered enough to write this article addressing a certain lack in the Apple ecosystem....

Anyways, I think the blame lies within the culture at Cupertino itself, where no feedback is taken and the success of the iPhone was taken as an emboldening indication that anything that Apple throws will stick on the wall with 100% success.

Case in point: The extremely limited iPhone Video App and the Mono Audio Recording of the iPhone, which despite years of complain remain unchanged....

What i feel is that they should sell hi fidelity player with a simple interface like the iPod. Bought iPod Touch 5th Gen and it was mostly a disaster and waste of money for what it can do, nearly everything lag on that device after iOS 7.
