NJ Transit is not a part of NY. So, they don't have one unified card you can use for both.

But wait, there are bus lines that are more expensive? In the same network? Weird (every lines, no matter the equipment or length, is 3,25$ CAD, except the Downtown line which is free). At least tell me that there is some kind of unified, unlimited fare that works in inter-regional networks, like you pay X per month and you can use one card to go on NJ Transit, MTA and others in the area. That's how it works here.
The RTM handles those fares, which increases depending on your "zone". Zone 1 is downtown Montreal, and Zone 8 is ST-Jérome, somewhat far. These titles are called OPUS TRAM, because it grants you TRain, Autobus and Metro access anywhere within the area. These are monthly, unlimited pass .
Im just very curious about other cities' public transit systems. Do they also have hybrid/electric buses? Since 2014, the STL only buys hybrid, and since 2016 they buy only with A/C. STM too, and they have two electric buses on a line full time. RTL has only hybrids.

Can't wait for this. One less thing to worry about and probably will never have to see a train leaving while I am refilling my metro card.
