This is good thing!
If you want to have all the new bells and whisles go to beta run. Is you want to have stable version, wait for official ota. Very nice indeed!
Remember, Sony co-developed Android Oreo with Google almost a year ago so they have the earliest privilege to update Sony's flagship to Oreo.
Of course it's fast, because it hasn't been properly tested.
In effect, you are doing their beta testing and HMD (company making Nokia phones) isn't the first to do this.
To me, this is just another example of how corporations are cutting corners and going on the cheap.
Now nokia is the fastest android update provider. Very good to see nokia shine again
Anonymous, 25 Oct 2017What happened? That flagship costs thrice the price of a1, so it better be updated ASAP. Googl... moreyeah, I agree with u 100%.
If u want to compare Mi A1 to other brand phone, especially Nokia, compare it with the similar specs. For A1, u have to compare it to the ~$400 Nokia 7/ similar SoC. AFAIK, the only brand who offer mid-range SoC with generous amount of RAM at "logical" price is only Xiaomi.
And mind you, SD630 is no different from SD625; add little improvements here and there, with "all-new" price tag.
BTW, No Nokia phones (except 8) are worth to buy, cuz they still use their old pricing formula;
cheap parts for low and mid-range phones, only the "flagship"ones get better hardware.
Just wait till they made two digit Android devices, where they will be another Samsung; no updates except for the flagship & hi mid-range, as the more type they release, the more harder it is to provide updates for every devices, especially the cheap ones, as there is no benefit for them.

[deleted post]Android one is Google's second child (after pixels) so yeah it won't be prioritized. Also what if it gets directly updated to 8.1?
Anonymous, 25 Oct 2017What happened? That flagship costs thrice the price of a1, so it better be updated ASAP. Googl... moreGoogle made us believe that they would update Android One devices in line with the Nexuses and Pixels. They scrapped off Nexus project and handed us this Android One mediocre crap without updating it in time. And now, 8.1 is out. Oh, the irony!

That flagship costs thrice the price of a1, so it better be updated ASAP. Google said it'll update a1 by December which I believe it will. What's the problem in that?
