if something happens to your phone, you can easily claim your warranty in us or many other countries with good consumer protection.
but in india im not sure people will be able to claim it easily

I think Apple is expecting a quiet backlash from Indians against this years Iphone series in regard to the pricing. I mean Iphone X is cost 999$ , Hence in India it should cost anywhere between 65000 to 70000 INR . Now lets us even add another 10000 INR ( 150$) to feed the greedy Indian and US tax systems. Even then there is no parity and Iphone X cost almost another 10000 INR more . They are already lowering their Iphone 8 sale exceptions. Many Indians cannot justify buying this just for brand value at 25 to 30% above US price. Situation would worsen if mass Indian who actually can afford Iphones reject this out of hatred. Hence the policy . Now at least all those who have friends and relatives in US can bypass the ridiculous Indian prices.

Apple store in Australia also accepts warranty claims for iphones bought outside as far as i know.

That means now you can buy the most expensive iPhone X from USA ( factory unlocked ) at around 65K( INR) and you don't have to worry about warranty in India. Your device is serviceable in India.

My iPhone 8 Plus was purchased from Singapore and when inquired to Apple customer care they told sir, need not worry, your device is serviceable in India !!
