AnonD-501724, 27 Oct 2017Yeah like those JDI screens from Sony in the early days on the Xperia Z for an expensive flags... moreThe mere fact that they were the first one to have it only proves how advanced they were back then.
Now they seem to be standing still, but looking like they're starting to move forward again.

It was the most disappointing? What about the early days of Super AMOLED from Samsung with low brightness, nasty tint on viewing angles, burn ins, etc.?
Yeah they're great. I get i5.

Anonymous, 27 Oct 2017Yeah the JDI one will be superior. When it releases. And by time it does you don't know that... moreJudging by the fact that they were the first to release 4K and 4K HDR display smartphones, it's no doubt that they will also be the first one to use a 4K HDR OLED.

If Samsung has the capacity to make billions of 2K HDR Super AMOLED panels, I wonder what's stopping them to make a killer 4K HDR Super AMOLED; afraid that Sony would make it irrelevant with their upcoming 4K HDR WOLED-CF?

It is Sony though that is in first line of using JDI's OLED panels, and no doubt it will be 4K, but of course there will also be 1080p and 720p ones for the standard and Compact versions of the Premium, respectively.
And it was also Sony that created the technology, so they deserve to have the best one. If they didn't invent OLED, I can safely say that Samsung is still keeping their horrible TFT displays like on their Galaxy J Prime series.

After seeing them in person, I agree Samsung Note 8 and S8+ have awesome displays.
But this is a war, maybe things will change in future? Nothing is permanent.

                For today, they rule though.

If its bad ur experience with the phone itself will be bad. Uneducated flop phone fanboys !!
Pixel is a flop project and once again google failed with hardware. Accept it and move on.
and what u calling a minor issue on a $850 phone is not a minor issue ... its unworthy for that price. They couldn't even get bluetooth tech right in their first gen and they want to go against samsung and apple by overpricing the useless phones. What a shame !!!

Terrible screen colours until recently was the whole reason I NEVER purchased a Shamesung from the beginning, the colours were always hideous.
Also doesn't matter how good the screen is if it catches fire, bit too early for Shamesung or the fan boys to be criticising anyone else for minor issues for other manufacturers
