This has nothing to do with snobism anymore, but plain out brainwork disfunction.

Their business plan is just on another level. First sell premium smartphones with highest profit margin and then scare the consumers to opt for their care plan by outing ridiculous repair costs. No wonder they are in top 10 of Global 500 companies by just selling handful of products.

Kirk, 28 Oct 2017Is the huge cutout at the top considered a manufacturing defect?Yes. They bought up all Oled panels with manufacturing defects from Samsung, and to hide those manufacturing defects, they came up with the notch XD
Still, just replacing the screen is much more expensive than manufacturing costs for the entire device. That's just Apple's usual way of showing their customers the middle finger and fingering them in the a$$ with it XD

So it costs a Xiaomi Mi A1 to repair the screen and a OnePlus 5 to repair other damages.

I'm actually surprised how cheap that screen replacement is, given how apparently hard of a time Apple are having with getting them produced.

I don't get the whole "other damage" though. Is it really a fixed price regardless of what damage you have? Like if your screen is broken, but you also need to fix the Lightning port, that's still $549?

Spending that much for a phone is just not worth it. This phone is more of a luxury item than anything.
