Anonymous, 29 Oct 2017As far as I can remember, Vive "only" cost like from 900 to 1000 dollars when it was released.... moreYup, you are right.
Anyways it cost too much in release, so very few bought if for personal use. Instead it got market in showrooms and playrooms.
I tried it once in a showroom, not sure if it was Vive tho, maybe Oculud.. but whatever it was, it was not so good. Much blur and I felt nausea after 15 min of "space travel".
I wouldnt cash out 1000 buck for whatever it was.
But hey, its affordable enough now.

I have to agree with this. It's ridiculous, but sad and true too. Yet they do bash other manufacturers repeatedly, but act like it somehow doesn't count as they do it for Sony. Not being a brand-fanboy doesn't seem to be an option for them.

The S8 was released earlier this year and cost no more than half what this does.
And the Note8 was just released. And again is almost half the price.
Had the Note8 or even S8 come out last year and they cost $1700 with a couple hundred worth in tech you bet yourself they would be getting orea real son. And they still have oreo in the mix now. On top of their already most advanced ui that takes more time and money to work with.

Respectless is defending companies for doing this.
The projector itself is almost no different from a $100 portable one that you hook up to phones.
For $400 I can get a 1080p 4,500 lumens real projector.

I don't know why you are but you are.
It's priced that high because they can. But that doesnt change how over the top it is to an extreme extent.
The difference is event though you sort of admitted it you did so loosely and then defended it because you follow anything master sony says.

I think it was "recently" on sale for about 450 dollars, I remember that because I almost bought it too.
Sony Fanboy Bitches, 29 Oct 2017If people are okay with Samsung still stuck at 7.0 (right, not even 7.1.1) for $900, Idk what'... moreIt damn well should be getting Oreo first (as it's costs a sh*t load of money), so it should be treated as a first-class device by Sony - no matter the chipset, or are you saying they picked it wrong with this product? No, didn't forget about the chipset, it's more like I don't really care about Sony's other than their TV's, to be honest. :-)
Pretty much only Sony's own phones with SD650 have a planned Oreo-update. Other manufacturers are rather using SD625 or something else, most likely for the better battery-efficiency and/or newer features.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2017True, just wait till those other companies copy this and then fans will praise them/they were ... moreCopy?
More like, they would buy this, remove the Sony logo (replaced with their own one), and replace the software with their own one, and resell it as if they were the one who made it.
Oh, let's not forget the advertisement. It would be advertised as much as if they invented teleportation that could go to other planets where some idi**s in this comment section belong to.
Superb future tech....
It is expensive, but it is not meant for mass common joe anyhow.
Didnt htc Vive cost about as much? I think it did.
This is going into showrooms, conference halls, hotels, hospitals, and stuff alike....
But Im certain in a copule of years it ll be affordable for home appliance use too.

Other than the fact that there's virtually no difference between Nougat and Oreo, this thing was released last year. Being released last year means it's just on the second priority of Sony right now, XZ Premium/XZ1/XZ1 Compact being their top priorities right now in terms of software and updates. Besides, it would be a hella funny to see a projector running a more latest version of Android than the most expensive Galaxy or any other flagship device/s from different Android manufacturers.

Like it's not a smartphone, but it acts like one.
And Sony is much better than anything else in terms of software and update. This projector will likely get Android Oreo before even Samsung and others start releasing Oreo on their smartphones.
And did you forgot that this has the SD650? Name a single smartphone with SD650 that is running/receiving Android Oreo 8.0.
