Hope Mobile do better in income over second half of financial year...
Sales show a slight jump, operating income not. But despite QoQ drop, YoY is still a positive.
Sony corp made quite a jump in corporate profit year on year, over 700% increase.
Lets just hope Mobile division adds up to this profit in the future too, Sony corp should invest more in marketing for Mobile division now, as they have money to spare now.

the only way to save this mobile division is to sell it to other company (like when foxcon bought sharp).

As an ex sony xperia user, I still believe in xperia. Their UI, software system, media (video & music player) are top notch. Now i'm happy using Honor 8 Pro, but miss those things from xperia. Come on sony, surprise us next year, make me love sony again.

They are making silly excuses on losses like hardware prices are high. They are using same hardware as every other Android cellphone company. They are not even using AMOLED screens and are not even trying in design department. So no investment was there. The losses can only be subjected to poor sales mostly. They need to find the balance between pricing and number if units desired to achieve break even. They should opt out of least profitable markets and target only in markets where they have some market. HTC has started trying and this is the time Sony should too.

For example, if they made their Xperia cameras as good as, say Cybershot or RX100, then those two would be senseless to continue. The only way is to stop those two lineups, but I doubt it.

Mind you, Sony would again do the best version of a bezel less smartphone, just like how they did the best slow motion smartphone camera.

Their mobile is a great device,no doubt,but sony only problem is their pricing and marketing,they just need to make the price more reasonable and go all out on marketing like samsung did...and sponser any event as possible ,like they did with uefa but need more than that

I could ask for slightly more loudness, but the quality is what I'm looking for, and Sony is unbeatable in that respect.
I think what's keeping them from making the best camera phones is that it would hurt their RX100 and Cybershot camera series. If their smartphones have as good quality as their RX100, consumers will be pickong it up instead of the RX100. The only way is to stop their Cybershot/RX lineup, but I surely doubt Sony would do that.

I don't know what is stopping Sony, which is a force to reckon with in camera, audio equipment, and gaming device categories, from making a stellar smartphone that can be seen in the same breath as their PS4 dominates its opponents. Sony has got the wherewithal to do it but still it underperforms in mobile division. Hope their reported departure from boring designs bring the best out of them.

Sony's phone design is great. The main shortcomings are weak stereospeakers, awful camera. They should ask developers of the rx100 series how to make good cams. Otherwise they are dead
