[deleted post]What? Samsung can't beat Apple?? At what exactly? Synthetic benchmark scores are all I can think of off the top of my head....even though the Note8 was already proven faster in real world testing.
Zoser, 05 Nov 2017Absolutly agree. The frequency which you can change your phone with Android devices due to it'... moreI'm agree. My case is a bit different but based on the same premise that you have explained. My children always asked, Dad buy the new iPhone and taking into account that I also need an updated phone I told them. Okay, what do you prefer? An iPhone every three years or an Android phone every year, the best phones that we can buy in quality/price for half price of the iPhone. They choosed Android, and they have a new phone each year which implies that they are not worried about updates too, they update the whole phone and I resell the old ones. And I believe that there are good phones at half price of the last iPhone, even cheaper, now they have two OP 3T and waiting to the black friday or my extra Christmas pay to buy the new ones. All family happy at the same price.
There will be people who want to spend $3000 a year on phones for the family but I think it's crazy even if I can do it. My practical vision is that for the price of an iPhone X a year you have the whole family with new updated phones and probably not even needed every year but every two, although it was an offer that I fulfill for now. For me, for maintain the family updated in hardware and happy, Android phones are a clear winner.
Anonymous, 05 Nov 2017Face ID fails when yout mouth/nose is covered with dust mask /surgical mask, full face helmet ... moreor when you in a bank robbery scenario, and want to call your getaway driver to start the engine
Face ID fails when yout mouth/nose is covered with dust mask /surgical mask, full face helmet (motorbike drivers/football players) or when you are wearing some costume and face masks/prosthetics for that special presentation, program or activity at school, at the theater, during holidays (masquerade party, Halloween party), etc. You'll have to enter the password everytime you need to unlock the phone to read messages or take a picture in your beautiful costume as you cannot possibly remove helmet/dust mask/facial costume/mask/prosthetics everytime you want to read messages from your phone or take a picture. You'll still need a fingerprint ID for all those common scenarios.
Bewildered , 05 Nov 2017I know you are an Apple addict but you continually posting nonsense utter drivel contradicted ... moreWhat you are trying to say with that link? Samsung expected lifetime sales for note 8 to be something like 10 million, like i said it's a phone for small minority and always been.
"That Apple has a success on the iPhone X is marketing, which I don't understand and the price they are willing to pay"
It has nothing to do with marketing, iPhone X is success because it's awesome phone and Apple have around billion userbase with people who want to use iOS. By the way people are willing to pay that price because they know what they get and it's worth of it

People buy phones for reasons personal to them
Apple lacks or has restricted all media sharing features so the only way to sync is to send it attached via an email
You don't need the absolute latest OS running on your phone, so even if older models can run the latest iOs some experience performance issues
The iPhone X has facial recognition, plus the massive price hike.
Facial recognition does not render finger print redundant, nor password, on my phone indeed many you simply don't get unlimited attempts
Facial recognition or all the features in the iPhone X are not advancement.
I like many have not had a physical home button since 2013.
Android is susceptible to malware hence the monthly patches, standalone third party apps Anti theft , also incorporated ANTI VIRUS, (ATAV) The 2 year Google patches may end after holding a phone for two years, but albeit delayed, updates in anti theft give you that
Only if you have the ATAV installed
Finally software updates can incorporate new features, sometimes an app can be found
Apple have popularized the yearly phone update, the additional features Imo do not justify it.
People can find their perfect phone, hence even though their Note 7 was proven free from risk of explosion, it was the disabling by Samsung that users were made to return their phone
That Apple has a success on the iPhone X is marketing, which I don't understand and the price they are willing to pay
AnonD-607239, 05 Nov 2017When people flash their X phone in public, other people will be secretly laughing at them.Secretly laughing= being extremely jealous!
Those people willing to pay £200 to get wireless charging on the new iPhones must be so stupid,Apple are just ripping there iPhone users off
Anonym, 05 Nov 2017Except that the S8 has pretty much the same footprint and screen (minus the top cut-out). Plus... moreLast time i checked, S8 doesn't have dual cam, so i'm not sure why you wrote that reply
So you failed, but hey atleast you tried!
Anonym, 05 Nov 2017True, but let us just keep in mind that drivers are also very important to the security side o... moreAbsolutly agree. The frequency which you can change your phone with Android devices due to it's price is the key. Updated hardware with the last year innovations in hardware and last OS at reasonable cost is in my opinion by far better than three years old hardware with updated software. Even let you change or own more than one phone each year at the same or less cost.
It depends of what you prefer to choose. For example if you buy now a iPhone X at 1300$... what could I buy in Android till the next flaship from Apple with the same money? You could buy now a Mix 2 or OP 5T, etc. In Febrary-March new one with underscreen fingerprint ( available from Qualcomm) plus FaceID 3D and updated software and gift the Mix 2 to your daughter. And if you choose carefully the right device in price/performance save enough money to buy another one in September-October, and with a bit more even a foldable one with the last technology.
If you put both options in a balance, iPhone X + software updates against 3 Android phones with new hardware and updated OS. I choose the Android option. Of course due to the marketing, abduced head after visit Apple stores, and other reasons, there will always people that prefer stay with an aged hardware without the last innovations because they spent a kidney on the phone with the consolation of having the software updated.
And yes, there are older models of iPhone that cost less than the last ones, but with outdated hardware, like less resolution, smaller screens, outdated design, etc. And here we are talking about maintain the last hardware and innovations at the same cost, renewing it more frequenly. The modular concept is ideal in theory but up today no practical, so you need to choose.
Sammir S8 takes better pictures, already seen a comparison, ipX goes to yellow and much more noise! For the rest I really like it and I don’t care about having the meat camera phone!

Zoser, 05 Nov 2017And what you are commenting about the updates is why Oreo is so important. With the new modul... moreTrue, but let us just keep in mind that drivers are also very important to the security side of the equation (just check Android security bulletins to verify that most critical vulnerabilities are kernel/driver related). The thing is, we now also have proper support from the likes of Google, Blackberry and Nokia, which may be somewhat expensive for Android standards but still far from Apple's increasing pricing.
3rd-party ROMs and Open-Source is the real differentiator (and what hooks me to Android), but I do reckon regular costumers want something that just works out-of-the-box. Apple traditionally scores big points here, but (again) the tides are changing in Android. Pricing will be of the essence, you could just pick a flagship Android for less and then replace it sooner, which also gives you the best of the upcoming technology sooner (as that is what will happen once you replace the phone) all within the same price.
I can't believe the crap GSM Arena are writing, I had a 5 min hands on in the shop today and had no problem learning the gestures, very well done and easy and simple to use well done here by apple. Some of the apps haven't been resized for the screen very well and have excessively big area's at the top or bottom screen unused and these are apps made by apple very disappointing. Steve Jobs being the perfectionist would never have allowed this to happen. Samsung and android does a much better job with the 18:9 ratio screen and apps. fitting.

With the new modular architecture you'll be able to update the system version aside the drivers, which was the lack before. And sure that the support will be longer, with a big BUT: But only till the brand consider it commercialy viable. And with a BIGGER PRO: Even if your brand stops the updates of your phone, you'll still be able to update the system by yourself while the compatibility is still there with your drivers, and the compatibility is something that Android usually care a lot.
Anonymous, 05 Nov 2017Future proof? I really hope you joking.. In his defense, they sure are more "future proof" in the sense they hold their resell value better than anything else.

Plus, the S8 has been available for the most part of the year and is now close to a third of the price of iPhone X.
Now that we established that isn't a proper excuse, try again.
Vegetaholic, 05 Nov 2017Keep justifying, most of a top phones are future proof it is not right argument. Your argument... moreNote 8 is huge compared to iPhone X and ridiculous long, also very expensive, thats why very few buy it, it's phone for small minority. IPhone X offers big screen in very compact size, there isn't any other phone in the market which does that. IPhone X has everything what most consumers want, it all comes to price, have they money to buy one.
For me the dual cam in small compact size is enough reason alone to upgrade as Im a photographer and don't want phablet size phone, so this is the phone i've been waiting since iPhone 7 plus came.
And no they aren't future proof, average Android phone gets two year OS support, thats why very few are willing to pay big money for Android flagship.
AnonD-1825, 05 Nov 2017Owned Apple devices since 2009, every one of them been worth of money and lot more. Im still r... moreAs I said, each one it's free to buy what it consider. For me, this phone doesn't provide me anything that I can't do with other flagships from Android at half price, plus buy a good Android tablet with the rest of the money and have two good devices at the same price and be more happy with them. I even think that I would have money left over for a good dinner celebrating the purchases.
I understand that there may be people who need good support because they are denied in technology. But except for that kind of people I do not see any justification in buying Apple products except for vanity and bragging, which is the real reason why many buy it because of its price. But it is not my case. You look more like an Apple commercial than a user. Anyway, I'm glad you're so happy with your 6s.
