if any of Essential's "internet + social media" data collector are here, this is for you. These are what should be considered for PH-2:-
1. Lose the cam "pimple" slash top notch. Yes please. It's stupid and defeats the very definition of full viewing. Figure a slim enough forehead call that a day.

2. Big battery. End of.

3. IP rating. No need to go S8 Active crazy but at least splash proof enough.

4. ffs SELL the damned thing everywhere. International, Asia or the 5th dimension what have you. Hell sell it in The Upside Down while you're at it.

5. HTC U11+ and Razer Phone shows some risk taking at proper aspects. Probably best to learn a few.

6. OS and software. Andy of all people should understand the full gravity of this so walk that talk.

NoToBrandLoyalty, 06 Nov 2017Still overpriced considering it lacks the ESSENTIAL features like a headphone jack, removable ... moreLast time I checked, almost no one offers phone with removable battery, unless is some low end phone

Daany, 06 Nov 2017Aparently bezeless is just a gimmick trend. And people be talking like that's all the success ... moreProblem being they released a year too late.
Bezelless phone can be a big thing a year ago but now with shitloads of other phone going their own way of Bezelless, the gimmick become less prominent.

also the fact that despite of its spec, it was barely mediocre among the flagships. Most review goes, "it looks pretty, it have pretty decent battery, but the rest like its sound system is barely mediocre which is bad for flagship, and the camera is an insult to its price tag"
Apparently due to its "Modular design", (maybe) they intentionally kept the other feature barely mediocre as they plan to sell the good one separately. Yet, despite of possible extra cost, they somehow priced the damn phone at $700 near best of the best sammy S8 and apple iP7/8 segment... good f*cking luck.

At least 1+ knows they can't sell their phone no matter how good it is, in same price with S8 and iP series and smartly sell it at $500 to hunt down bargain seeker market.
While real product review and sales is still unknown, at least Razer is trying something beyond its look, have target differentiation, and have clear target customer.
Can't say they same with Essential as they fail the basic business 101.

XXX13, 06 Nov 2017I never drop my phone in water therefore waterproofing is not a major problem for me.Some of us wanted waterproofing as some of us live in place where it often rained heavily and in the tropics, half of the year is rain season.
So got caught in the rain is pretty actual problem for some electronics.

Old Blackberry can go haywire when it got damp when it reside in wet-ish clothing or handled with wet hand not mention when it got fully wet. Smartphone makers could at least do splash proofing smartphone like Lenovo often does give quite a lot of convenience and safety in using it in rain heavy areas.

XXX13, 06 Nov 2017The need to do a better job at marketing. It's a good smartphone. No it isn't a good smartphone and neither are the other "flagships" - the difference really is marketing (brainwashing). If something sells well, then it only means the brainwashing is working. But it never means a phone is good - they are all crippled with compromises and bugs. It's madness. But apparently it's considered normal and as long as the brainwashing is nice, then everything's fine...

Add 3.5mm jack & microsd card ... at this price ... would have definitely buy one. Alas, it's too late. The Nokia 8 is a better option.

Got mine last week for the $499 and don't regret it. I only miss waterproofing personally. It's a great phone for that price and about the most screen real-estate you can have while still being able to use the phone comfortably one handed which was very important to me. Other phones have screens that are either too tall or wide or both, or just have very small screens. This is one of the few in between screen phones and at the same time I don't think there is much of a sacrifice from modern phablets.

Still junk. Better to get Axon 7 for $220 at GB. Way more value for $

Mr. Electronics, 06 Nov 2017First of all, no phone with a Snapdragon 835 will be $200 in just a few months. Lots of people... more I considered the PH-1, is it? It wasn't available where I shop, so I went with another OEM. However, I like Essential's model, and may get one of their units down the road.

Alot of people were even excited when it was announced.
The reason for it's lackluster sales performance is due to its marketing and limited availability.
How else can you make sales or at least make it known if it's only limited to 1 region and not marketed to anywhere else?
