in my opinion,for a true traditional gamer's phone, native support for external controller, thus, no messy drivers ( lag inducing), search and locate via bluetooth, no bothersome remapping and no fiddly keyboard changes
just plug in and play, then i would be interested, after all Razar makes both joysticks and joypads, while integrate with native support for future razor joysticks and joypads
also a lag free ( ie, don't use mhl, super laggy, not suitable for video games) video output such as nvidea shield does, then it would be killer gamer's phone to me!!

I'm not a gamer but will be eagerly awaiting the reviews. This might be my next phone.

What's happening is they're actually comparing 2 different DACs (one built-in the headphones, the other in the SoC smartphone through the 3.5mm jack). Hence i want to clarify that it's the DAC/amp thats changing the sound characteristics, not the connector.
Also as you said, usb type-c is handling digital signals, while 3.5mm is in analogue waves, so...how to listen to the sound difference right?
why audiophile grade amps and dacs don't have usb type-c, is probably cause it's still a new type of connector compared to the 3.5mm jack, which has been around for 100+ years and 99% of audio gear still supports/use it.

Anonymous, 09 Nov 2017This would be a beast with the A11...Nope. It would be a beast if it's iOS but with SD835 + 8GB RAM. Don't confuse hardware with software. Though the OS itself sucks, but it's way faster than android. A video speedtest with iPhone X and Note 8 was compared. It opened, loaded, processed apps faster. The only hindrance with it is the X's 3GB RAM that it reopend apps slower.

1. DAC is a "soundcard" for all electronic devices. It takes any digital audio file (mp3, streaming youtube videos, movies, etc etc) and converts the digital data into analog waves (sound) that our human ears can hear.
2. Every phone has a DAC built in. period.
3. DACs ("high end" or not) are meant to reproduce sound as accurately as possible, therefore all DACs SOUND MORE OR LESS THE SAME IN QUALITY.
4. PRICES don't matter: cheaper/expensive models do not make much of a sound difference
5. All DACs already support 24-bit audio; it's whether you have 24bit/96khz lossless audio files in your music collection that can support playback (eg. flac, alac, wav)
6. If your phone has no headphone jack, and received a dongle/adapter instead, you're now getting 2 DACs (one in the dongle adapter for your headphones, the other built in your phone for the external speakers).
5. 24-bit Dac, DO NOT MAKE MP3s OR SPOTIFY SOUND BETTER. Again, it only works on supported lossless audio files.
6. USB type-c VS 3.5mm jack has NO DIFFERENCE in quality audio. It is just a connector, that transfers data in the form of electrical currents/signals from one end to another. Nothing more.
