Stabalizer+good lighting=good video
It is not a big deal. All 2 years old android flagships can do that.
Well era where phones pushed out car navigations has come time ago.
Or where phone took place over sound recorders or MP3 players.
But era when phone grab first place over a proffesional camera will probably never come.

Nokia 8 is one of the best, but LG V30 is just plain better in sound departure.
If iPhones would not have such a terrible audio recoring, i would be shouting "Damn thats a fine video capture", BUT image is only 1/2 of the whole thing.
It's not 1977 anymore, and i like sound capture with my video ... "stereo", decent quality sound.
It's pretty important for me, since i have two kids and i would love to film them and preserve not just image but sound as well.
External mic is unacceptable since it defeats the purpose of a device you have always with you. Even when Sennheiser Ambeo is pretty decent for its price - still it's external solution that tries to fix Apple laziness.

Watch the comparison and you'll realise tha... moreSONY stm10 dual directional microphone is one of the best options around (compatible with sony flagship phones since 2014 z2) it's better than any builtin microphone, however, 3d recording with nokia recordings which uses 3 microphones is interesting
Yes; footage from both of them look great, but both of them have different purposes. iPhone X camera, or, any smartphone camera: point & shoot. Professional camera; best photo & video. I just love how much smartphone cameras have improved, but until they get extreme optical zoom, there is still work to be done. Also, I do love the new trend of using old mobiles and high end cameras together.
Horrible, such comparisons are just for marketing purpose. Who would really rely on a smartphone in a professional environment?? What if a cloud comes by, what if you need to zoom. Haha, and what if you need to record in stereo. This is so ridiculous
I think, Apple should start investing in standalone cameras next. Let's see if they can kill Canon, Nikon, Panasonic and Sonys.
It was very obvious from the very first second the Panasonic is superior to the iphone with regards to raw detail and higher quality, you cannot compare...
"However, where fine details may not even matter are on platforms like YouTube, which compresses the video anyway."
How is that even supposed to make sense????
That just means the details will be even further deminished
Punchy and vibrant is not natural... That's not professional for you to compliment that..

You can buy a mirrorless like gh4, or a6300 and still got some cash left for proper mic or buy the older a6000+mic+a decent phone
I bet V30 and Pixel 2/Note 8 have better camera
Avovymous, 08 Nov 2017one thing, there's no such thing as unlimited in video recording or even saving photoslimited only by storage space rather than time I would guess what was meant.
Rafe Firmani, 08 Nov 2017Don't forget HTC.... U11 has 3D sound recording also to make it excellent for video recordingIt's nothing in front of the Nokia 8's ozo sound. Watch the comparison and you'll realise that it's the best audio you can get till date on a phone.
"You can definitely get professional video quality out of an iphone X." Seriously? How much did Apple pay for this video? How can the iphone X possibly capture professional video quality when the iphone X can't even 1. Artistically blur the background regardless of any lighting condition. 2. Capture waterfalls with creamy flow (slow shutter) 2. Capture an ultrawide footage. 3. Capture low light videos with little noise, smearing, blotchiness or underexposure. 4. Manually adjust ISO, shutter speed, aperture, sharpness, niose reduction, film style/picture styles, etc. to achieve a film/cinematic look. Seriously? You don't need an overpriced iphone X to capture good 4K videos in bright sunlight and small aperture. All flagship smartphones do well capturing 4k videos in bright daylight. But that's about it. The moment you need to change to a wider lens or portrait lens or adjust the manual video settings to achieve a professional effect, they're all garbage. So puhleez Apple stop misleading buyers with your captured by an 'iphone X' photo or video footage making buyers think the $1000++ price is worth it because it can capture 'professional' photo and 'video' footage. Tell it to the Marines!

what about the v30?
Holy hell, they literally punched up the colour and contrast to a hyper-saturated and needlessly contrasty level on the GH5 to the degree where it becomes an absolutely pointless comparison. They essentially ruined the GH5 footage.
Who in their right mind thinks it's fair to compare two cameras, but give one editing that worsens its output?
Give us raw default footage from both or nothing at all.
