iPhone X screen is one solution, Xiaomi mi mix 2 screen is another solution to edgeless screens. I think Xiaomi shall not follow apple in this regard as it's own design is great enough.

The way i see it, xiaomi knows millions of stupid people are going to like the notch of iphone x coz its apple. Xiaomi here is just joining the party, whats wrong with taking their fair share of the stupid notch craze, if theres any at all.

Don't you read? I wrote that Mi Mix started it all, not that they were the first.
A bit of how fingerprint was done first with Motorolla Atrix (but nobody cared), yet iPhone 5S made it a thing.

Alright, time for an actual challenge. The notch saves space in the middle where there isn't going to be anything anyways. There just isn't any notification logos there. As for videos, tell me where there is content specifically designed for 2:1? And also, what phones do you expect to be the standard design; Galaxy S8? One of the worst flagships you can buy? The Xperia XZ1 Compact is the best package outside the small size; the iPhone X runs much smoother; LG V30 has a DAC when you buy the special edition or something similar; the Google Pixel has a much better camera and smooth software experience; Chinese phones are becoming more and more reliable and offer a package comparable to an S8 sans price.
To each their own, but quite apparently you're an opinionated Samsung fanboy. :) I don't hate Android. I just hate Samsung.
