I will not buy 400+ USD phones which don't have Gorilla glass and memory card slot.

Are you now? Have you even used a WP7 handset? Just because the O/S has out of the box functionality for social networking doesn't mean you HAVE to use it. It doesn't even force your to add your FB, Twitter or LinkedIN accounts - meaning it's COMPLETELY OPTIONAL! And if you want the latest version you can still download the official app from the Marketplace.
I guess having a calculator, stocks, weather, news, web brower and other software native to the OS is a big no no too?
Your issue in regards to live.com integration holds some merit, but other than that your just whinging over an issue that doesn't exist.
Cedd, 24 Jun 2011I can see how famous and hot N9 is. It was announced 3 days ago and it got almost 360,000 hits... morei wonder how many nokia desperate workers click on "like" to help this happen........
i wonder how many nokia lasy workers are here posting coments using diferent names and hoping this nokia post will stand up from the crowd and make a big impression about this "undercover" nokia debut presentation ............
even trying this kind of brain wash is already out of date.........
apple does it, htc does it, samsung does it, lg does it......
honestly, get real nokia!
imagine a train with severeal modules... guess which are you in this phone business right now?........
for the others that simply don't have a clue what i am saying, just carry on with your lifes and "big" dreams .
1 to 2 years from now, (a very high percentage of)consumers will buy a new handset/smartphone. The idea of no OS updates not to arrive on a 2 year handset is very minimal, especially in the case of WP7 (as it is a people centric operating system with the facebook integration). People accommodate change and it is difficult to imagine a person carrying a three year old model (most people do upgrade, at the end of their contract), if they are a smarthphone junkie and most of us are.
AS someone said earlier ,bugger this i am getting an N9 ,,me toooo.
Get real!, 26 Jun 2011Ref.: "You just sound like a mad developer." Ahhh, another assumption of yours! ... moreIf you wanna waste money on a paper weight phone, it's up to you. No one, not even Apple, Google nor MS is forcing you to buy their phones which all of them has those integrated!! If you don't like something don't buy it, do NOT assume big companies like them will ever change something because somewhere in the world a jerk like you likes to whine for everything. They brought those features because people demanded it to have it all, people wants their money to be worth it, they want something simple to use out of the box. Don't expect everyone is a techie or tech nerdie or whatever you want to call them. They made those features so people like my 49 yrs old mom can use it without getting her hair to fallout just to search for an app and install it on the phone. We are not in the 90s anymore dude, everyone wants a smartphone now.
Nokia has the biggest Sales Network , if they decide to sell their product (MeeGo) at good prices it will definitely sell more than all WP7 devices together. Not only that , but they will FREE advertise WP7 and when WP7 have all the attention , then people will buy cheaper Asian devices with the same characteristics.
China/Japan devices will give more for less money and with the Same OS...How can Nokia beat that ?

another assumption of yours! :)
Back to the social network integration:
I didn't say that those apps should'nt be for free! Still, in the end of the day, it should be the user's choice, not the manufacturer's choice. Believe it or not but there are millions of people out there in the wild who have chosen not to be part of FB, Twitter, LinkedIn or similar services. Having all this junk preloaded is just not right! And just wait a year or 2, when your phone gets a bit older and doesn't get any os updates anymore ... you then are pretty much stuck with non-functioning social network integration software that no longer works because FB decided to update its API ... !
If social networking would be optional / additional apps from the marketplace, you could install the latest version and move on if you would want it, yet, preloaded on my device, I am pretty much stuck with what I got ... !

You just sound like a mad developer. Oh and by the way No one is forcing you to use those integrated features, you can still use apps if that's a smart way for you to use :)

I can't judge on how Google (Android) handles 'forced synching' since I never owned an Android device, yet, having my contacts birthdays automatically added to my (public) calendar at Live.com - and that without my permission - is a bad move from MS. I sure had the birthday / events fields filled out in my contacts in my phone, so, that I could check in my contacts lists when a certain person would have an aniversary. Live.com then thought it would be a smart move to add all those dates to my calendar online too ... !
I wouldn't complain much about my WP7 phone if the synchronization with Live.com would be optional, yet, without me setting up the phone for Windows Live services, I can't even download and install a simple PDF reader.
More annoying is the full-blown social network integration! Even stuff like this should be optional, so, why not having FB and Twitter apps in the marketplace which then will extend your contacts / peoples hub if you want it rather than everything is cooked into your phone on default?

So why don't u get real and think "open" and stop hating.

The reason why is because WP7... moreI wouldn't call it 'smart' if I am forced to synchronize my contacts and calendar with Windows Live! In fact, if you want to use your phone properly, there is no way around but uploading all your contacts to your Hotmail account! This, for sure, makes it less likely that the WP7 platform will become attractive for business users since this is a security risk. What company would want you to store your business contacts / information on Windows Live?
