Nokia on their first flagship phone in years and they knocked it out of the park. Both Htc and Google are way bigger and more experienced and they have quality control issues.

Obviously HTC isn't immune to hardware defects and software issues either, just look at One M7/M8 camera purple hue issue in low light, but at the very least they seem to learn from their mistakes.
Obviously HTC has a different problem - whenever they design something good, they feel the urge to completely screw it up by re-engineering it from ground up. Yes U11, I'm looking at your glass back.

Anonymous, 10 Nov 2017Google will be next NokiaIt won't be, phone making isn't google's primary source of revenue, it's more of a new venture, they suck at it so far but even if they quit making hardware, Google search is hard to beat in near future, not to mention other services such as youtube or gmail.

How can we get flawless devices from $50 to $600 but problem-packe... moreThe reason could be, many of these issues are not related to advanced features, instead basic ones such as unresponsive screen, mic not working, battery exploding, flashing screens, OLED issues (in iPhone & Pixel XL 2) all these are not related to advanced features. May be the QC is taking things for granted(being nth iteration release) on the fundamental areas and focussing mainly in Busy, Google assistant, Face ID, camera ..whereas mid-range or flagships from other lesser premium brands do not focus on such features deliver high quality mobiles strong in basics. While OnePlus started in the premium direction, we could see more issues in basic features.

Did these manufacturers take a step back in the past with awful issues that we thought are no longer an issie anymore?
Tbh, only HTC, Asus, Xiaomi, Huawei, and Sony are the only OEMs that could offer a flawless product at any price. I think this is a great way of telling people to grow up, instead of Samsung's nonsense commercial, which is more of a hatred rivalry than a message.

I get the feeling that Google and HTC are happy as hell that the standard Pixel 2 has nowhere near as many problems as the Pixel 2 XL. It's said that hindsight is 20/20... so, maybe Google shouldn't have cancelled the "rumored" larger 2017 Pixel 2 offering that HTC was developing (?). Do you guys think it would be as problematic as the Pixel 2 XL? The world may never know ;-) .
