A smidge more accurate is only a smidge and only describes one aspect of ... moreYou don't get it. Samsung had the tech dominance in phone screens for years and they just lost it. That's huge, that comes in the heels of losing tech dominanince on the following categories as well: new features added each gen, amount of ram, raw processing power, amount of features offered each gen.
They went from 1 to 4-5, hardware speaking yet their prices remain 1 still (at least as far as the android world is concerned). That's pitiful.
I mean Note 8 has the processing power of early 2016 phones for god's sake (their very own S7 had the same processing power and that's almost 2 years ago). This company has stopped competing , you should stop supporting her and her exorbitant prices.

A smidge more accurate is only a smidge and only describes one aspect of number of aspects.
Yet you took only that one aspect and tried to fly off with it.
The Note 8 display is nearly just as accurate but you have the option to choose different modes for more saturation or use sliders to adjust the color tone. Its also larger, higher resolution with a higher ppi which means its more retina than iphone is, its also more power efficient. Also less glare and color shift at extreme angles. And overall still brighter. Actual comparisons and tests show this.

Which is exactly my point. After 5 years of Samsung dominance they lose their last castle , they should be worried ... even if it is by a smidge at this point.
As for Dx0 mark, you don't have to read their numbers, just look at the pictures, read the descriptions. At this point it's Pixel 2 and iPhone 8/X , everybody else is second tier. *Again* another Sasmung castle is lost, not to one, but *two* competitors.
This failure of performance across the board should worry a company that made a name *mostly* by being top performer (and less so for her software). Yeah, Samsung has finally went around and fixed most of her (serious) software issues, but at the same time she has made serious steps back on hardware. Should we stay back and tell nothing as she prices her phone for close to $1000? hell naw ... I don't think that any of my main phones was ever a non-Samsung and unless she gets he act together I'll strongly consider my next one not to be one. I want the tech dominance of Note 4, Note 3, S4, S2 back, is that so hard to ask?

And display mate gave good info but if you actually read through it all and do your research around the only thing the iphone x has on the S8 and Note8 display is being a smidge more accurate.

It had Samsung on top for years, for god's sake, I used to tout their results (back then) as well. Would you call them then cherrypicked?
No they're not biased. They even give you their results straight up. You can recreate their results. Measurements when done with the right methodology are always the closest one can get to the TRUTH.
Of all the sources you could find online, I researched and found the least biased. I *challenge* you to find me better ones ... if not sh*t the f*** up.

So much for being blind-sided.
I'm simply seeing the things as they are. Apple is running away with tech dominance and unless Samsung does something we'd end with having to pay $1000+ for a high end phone soon.
I'm wanting Samsung to take up the slack, instead of slacking ... that's me *liking* the company, unlike you that seems to reward bad behavior.
As for Apple's current dominance, and Samsung's losing edge see my well researched posts (my last two). They're full of links and strong proof that Samsung is losing it and is in her way to become the new Blackberry.

S7 dominating S6: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s7-review-1408p5.php
If you can see, in *each* generation new chip from Samsung was at least 40% faster in most/all test ... *at least*
And then Exynos 8895 happened.... pfffft
https://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s8-review-1603p6.php
Less that 10% faster... Really Samsung? As if they suddenly pulled the stops.
And before saying the rest are doing it. Nope, if anything Apple accelerates at this point: https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_x-review-1681p5.php
That's not hate, that's me wanting Samsung to return being at the top of her game because I *always* owned Sasmung product (my first serious smartphone was a Samsung Vibrant, then Note 2, currently Note 4) ... if Samsung does not straighten up, the rest would run with her prize money and we'd have a poorer market.

Every company is at the stage now where the advances are fairly minor your precious apple included. The only thing new on the X is faceid which is just an old idea with newer tech. Sure the processor and camera have improved but that can be said for every companies new phones and they finally like 4 years late to the party got an AMOLED which is an old handme down from samsung and not even there latest display. You can harp on about displaymate most accurate colour but the fact that samsung uses the "oversaturated" look from default shows they aren't interested in that.
Anonymous, 10 Nov 2017Considerable lag??? Sorry. This is realityCompared to iphone sure. It really depends on your gaming scenario. Mobile gaming happens in short intervals when you have a short amount of time. Games need to load quickly. I've been in scenarios where I had a bit of time but by the time game loaded I really couldn't play much. I have seen my friend's iphones load games and it's noticeably quicker. Although most likely I would assume it's a matter of how fast you can get those textures loaded into memory. These sort of cases will improve with memory tech.

Samsung (up until Exynos 8890) would create some of the best SoCs in the world. No android could touch them, and Apple was competitive on singe core performance alone (and in that not by too much).
Yeah, Samsung is being left behind, they should do something. One more goose egg and they're becoming the new Blackberry, they should be very wary... No #1 can be quickly lost if you have lost your technological edge.
