Boring man . Bring that 7nm...
Kiyasariin, 10 Nov 2017Hopefully in multicore score. but the chances are certainly 0 when it comes to single core EVE... moreQualcomm does have higher performance (server) CPU core's than Apple but doesn't intend to use them in mobile (at least not yet). I believe A11 big one's are six ways while QC one's are eight ways (OoO designs). I also believe both use A72 (three way) as the base design for building blocks. In some things Apple is actually far behind as that A11 is the first real HPM SoC while rest employed it for years. Arm DinamiQ will be a big boost regarding task migrations in particular & we will see first implementations on Android SoC's from beginning to end next year... At the end ARM is still progressing faster (performance wise) than x86 all do also significantly slowing down.
Anonymous, 10 Nov 2017You can't base the graphics power on gflops alone. That's fairly standard right there.
And th... moreThis us why I said Exynos has the upper hand when it comes to CPU prowess. but not in GPU. and I referred to preformance only. the MAIN way to measure a GPU's power is to count how much GFlops it does. (afaik it's per second but then again I might be wrong tho) there's also clock speed, bandwidth, FPU measures and rendering efficiency. at GPU alone.
calculating also the camera preformance, audio preformance Battery efficiency and OTHER things. You are correct. but when taking the bare minimum such as the processor prowess. that's what interests people when it comes to comparing to the A11.

in Mali: scroll all the way to G71. and see for yourself how much TWENTY Cores of G71 achieve. it's not very impressive. but Qualcomm. (that afaik uses 14 cores configuration) with it's Adreno 540 sweeps the floor with Exynos at 567 GFlops. (at Adreno GPU's, nearly the bottom list of it.

[deleted post]OK seeing that you are lazy , I'm giving you links (next time you call me names I report you):
Twice the resolution than 7: Correction it's 2.7 times the pixel count, https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8858&idPhone2=8064
Muuuch greater colour quality: http://www.displaymate.com/iPhoneX_ShootOut_1a.htm
Biggest jump in camera quality since forever: https://www.dxomark.com/apple-iphone-x-top-performer-stills/
Biggest jump in battery life as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Mtiia37kdc&t=310s
Almost twice the multi-core score: https://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_x-review-1681p5.php
50% more ram: https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8858&idPhone2=8064g
Far faster unlock (mini kinect on top): It takes time to learn your face but once it does it's instant. I'll post the link in a few week with actual times.

And many more small or bigger things...
It's quite possibly the greatest upgrade (between generations) in the history of phone.
Now Note 8:
Same screen density/resolution as Note 7
Similar/same colour quality
5% better Raw performance (geekbench tests between Exynos 8890 and 8895)
*less* battery (3300mah vs 3500 Mah)
50% more ram (that's a positive indeed)
Veeeery similar camera quality. In fact it's decidedly left back by Pixel XL2
More narrow screen (which actually makes it worse for ... wait for it.... Notes)
In general it was a disastrous release. It started at ~1000, even if it's 800 right now it's waaaay overpriced given that you could find better phones *last* year (S7 edge for example).
BTW better performance only came via software optimization you can have them on Note 7 / S7 via custom roms. Nothing to do with hardware ... the hardware is the same or worse (less battery).
AnonD-711468, 11 Nov 2017They're worse. Note 8 costs amost $1000 and has less battery and same performance as Note 7 (i... moreYou are overexagerating. First, Note 8 costs only 800 (the price of it will also drop soon unlike apple phones, which sadly never drop in price). Battery performance of that phone is good, I don't see any reason why you should complain about it. Performance definitely improved.
I don't see why you think iPhone X is twice as good in everything when compared to 7. Besides that bumped up resolution, which other phones had for years, oled display and added cpu performance, it's the same iPhone. I would actually say that it's a downgrade because of the removal of Touch ID. Face recognition is much slower and not as secure as apple makes it out to be. Also that notch... I couldn't bear to use a phone like that.
I hope Samsung will bring back true dual SIM with seperate dedicated MicroSD card slot, & when a hybrid UFS 2.0 & microSD card slot with appear in future devices since such a card already exist.
Anonymous, 10 Nov 2017Samsung isn't apple...They're worse. Note 8 costs amost $1000 and has less battery and same performance as Note 7 (if it was ever to be released)
iPhone X costs $1000, but it's also twice as good as iPhone 7 (in almost everything).

Then Qualcomm happened and Samsung tried to emulate its slow pace. The result?
S8 only being 5% faster than S7 (and some people still bought it!) ... so yeah, expect an equally low advance in performance. If true then Apple would be in stratosphere compared to those amateurs ...
In actual fact though Samsung has to cover the distance lost due to Exynos 8895, so do something spectacular ... as the name suggests though (only "15" more) Samsung would try to emulate Qualcomm once again and lose even more distance from frontrunners (Huawei and Apple). Qualcomm and Samsung SoCs are going down in flames lately.
It's sad too, because those are the most expensive android phones, yet have some of the worst performance, in both real life and synthetics... if only people started to see Samsung for what she initially was, an impostor ... they hard a good run between 2011 and 2014 but by now it's all but ended ... each gen is less competitive than the last...
