I'm currently using G4 (for multiwindow) but upgrading to G6 so could have properly split screen for my day trading on the go.
I guess we all have our preferences.

Please look at the picture in this article!
People's trend about carrying phones:
1. Vertical mode %99/9
2. Horizontal mode %00/1
Watching movies/playing games:
1. Vertical mode less than %10 for example monument valley
2. Horizontal mode more %85 (watching movies or playing games)
At present 16:9 aspect ratio should be the sensible choice as majority of the content falls under this aspect ratio. Maybe in future 18:9 could be a better choice when there will be content in that aspect ratio, but at present I'd rather have wider phone than cropped video in full screen view.
Anonymous, 12 Nov 2017For me 17:9 is Lol, you probably trolling but there's one phone with 17:9 ratio.
It's the 2016 Xiaomi Mi Mix

Martin, 12 Nov 2017 I Wait on 21:9.Then buy an ultra wide (and overpriced) monitor.
Don't expect on phones
The wider, the better.
Moving from Note5 to the Note 8, and 18.5:9 is the best for me.
Pdf reading is very bad in my Galaxy s8 plus.
My galaxy note 2 is far batter.

Question! Really why 18:9 (2:1) to Samsung and Samsung's followers!! Smart phones are not TV laptops or even tablets! Wide, wide and wider in small screen 5.5" ~ 6.4" is not good idea in my opinion
For me the aspect ratio of 16:9 is the best and i hate that Samsung brought the 18:9 ratio and even worse enough companies already take that road...Ok thin bezels is nice but only with 16:9 ratio..Nuff said
18:9 is an excuse to forcr more ads on your screen. So at the end you really wont benefit ftom the taller screen, add companies will come up with abusive ideas so that extra space you were happy with will be used for ads leaving you withh smaller viewing area for content
16:9 for sure!!!
16:9 is better for the current state of tech. If all tech media adopts 18:9 then I am all for it, but till then I will vote for 16:9.
It is the same with 3.5mm. Until all tech outlets adopt USB-C as audio output, I will always vote for 3.5mm.
Standardization is very important. I know this due to my own experience as young teenager. Back then Nokia, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, BlackBerry, Samsung all had different charging and audio ports for their feature and semi-smartphones. It was a nightmare in my country to get a charger or headphone from a friend or family member unless they bought the same brand, you always had to carry yours.
I rejoiced when EU mandated that all phones must have the same charging port.
We are going back where companies are individualizing themselves. This will be painful yet again.
I have large hands and i won't buy a 18:9 screen. Too tall. Anything that's >= 6" in height is too big for me.
How about we shrink the bezels and actually make the phone physically smaller? Nope, we don't do that.
32:18
Martin, 12 Nov 2017 I Wait on 21:9.lol why stop there, just make it 20:1...
most cellphones users are NOT master techies on screen aspect ratios etc etc ..most users are experts in own fields ..so its upto handsets coz and real techies ..may be gsmarena experts have views on aspect ratios ..
tbh, we ain't got a choice
as long as most media are 16:9 then it's simply the best doesn't need a vote
if by any chance the media sources decide to go to 2:1 then again we don't have a choice it would be the best
it has nothing futuristic in it honestly
just that they want to say oh we created bigger screens but same time no one can hold wider phones so they cut the width and add to the height,
again nothing futuristic about this,
but that would be terrible on home TVS to be 2:1 so probably such thing won't happen for media sources.
