Later Qualcomm understood and followed Apple's strategy.

Anonymous, 14 Nov 2017A11 already makes the competition look like jokers. A11X will be such a beast. Yes. On paper and benchmarks is the best.
In reality Sony XZ Premium beat iPhone X in every single area - app loading, browsing even game loading.
As Steve Jobs sad - it just works.... Better than iPhone.

Its just a number, it means nothing when you compare major different CPU designs like the CPU in A11 and in Snapdragon 835 for example.

Apple uses two high performance cores. Single thread performance is still much more important for mobile applications. More cores are a nice for efficiency sake though.

It's so funny how people defend apple saying they don't need this and that and then when they finally do release it's the greatest thing in the world... screen size, ram, multicore, file browser etc

Like i said in my original comment though it will no doubt be an absolute beast of a processor but it's still late to the party as an octa core.

its a race between SD8xx and other SoC (Snail) versus A12 (Cheetah).

Great it will be fast as light and with no practical use.
Also it will cost twice as much.
                  Shame for greedy apple.

I'm 110% sure that it wouldn't be based on 7nm process. It'll still be 10nm only. 7nm will be introduced on the A12 chip!

Do not forget peak points and bottlenecks.
The thing which Qualcomm tried on MSM8994.
Apple will lower the frequency in A11X and if do so, ~30% more powerful SoC will be seen toward A11.
7nm production is not what apple think with such big power hungry cores.

If Apple just makes A11 bigger by CPU cores and GPU frequency/cores and call it A11X, for some user, it's beast under the hood, for others, it's headache under frying pan.

Although... considering every 100 MHz of Monsoon core is 200 points in geekbench. I really would not be surprised if the A11X scores 4700 or so. (then again. even as a B.sc in software engineering. I am not even sure how the formula of geekbench even works for scoring when tweaking the frequency of a certain core. so take it with a grain of salt.)
and then... considering a Mistral core scores 1950 points.
I really wouldn't be surprised if A11X scores 12,000 points in geekbench. o.o
