According to Qualcomm official website, SD 636 does support FHD+ 18:9 displays. So, if xiaomi wants to make the phone 18:9, 636 is their cheapest option. Obviously it wont give 660 at such lower price. And 630 only support up to 1920×1200.
So, 636 on the way.

Yep, this is probably real design, source GSMArena. Looks like Note 4(x) on steroids, and with 18x9 display, probably 5.99". :D

Redmi Note 3 and 4 Snapdragon version launch on January 2015 and 2016 and probably Redmi Note 5 also will launch on January 2018 that mean there is a time for Xiaomi to make RN5 with this chipset if they want and there was a rumors Xiaomi will be the first to introduce a phone with this chipset.

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2017Xiaomi's tactic now for that? You gotta pay the price for Mi Note 3 and nothing else...I rough use my phones a lot - cracked the screen protector of my redmi note 3 pro, 3 times in 2 months (after the 3rd time I didn't buy a new one yet because I know I'll break it again. Bought a total of 10 screen protectors for this phone)- and I completely lost count of the number of times I dropped the phone. I'm surprise that other than a few dents, it's still holding up great.

So......A phone that is entirely made of glass......... isn't really a good choice for me.

I do use a case. But not a bumper. There is a local online shop that makes custom cases. The quality is great - even after all this abuse it's still alive. But it's not a bumper (and they don't make bumper cases). I don't think a regular plastic case will be able to protect the mi note 3 that much.

Musang King, 16 Nov 2017Redmi Note 5 will come with either SD630 or SD636 but Xiaomi always make surprise it could be ... moreSD636 was announced last month, and there's no precedence that newly-announced SoC being available in such a short time.

If possible, I want Xiaomi to keep using SD65x for the new Redmi Note to keep the cost down, as SD630 is no different than SD625 in daily use, combined with the less-capable Adreno 50x series which is a HUGE disappointment for Gamers & users who use the GPU for heavy tasks.

If they really use SD65x, combined with the solid build quality of Redmi Note 4, good camera sensors and better algorithm, this will be the next hit after Redmi Note 3 & Mi Max (assumed that there IS external memory slot, unlike Mi note series).

The reason Redmi Note 4 sell like hotcake was mostly because of its build quality, which is FAR BETTER than Redmi note 3 pro, and the "popular" 4000mAh battery, making the owner of Redmi Note 3 pro jealous yet proud of making the "right" choice of not upgrading.

Assuming that previous Redmi Note series comes in two versions, the first to launch might be the MTK version. I hope at least they will use Helio X30 as it is more battery-efficient than previous Helio series (my mom owned Redmi Note 4x with Helio X20 which is on par with SD652 performance-wise, but drain battery faster).
As for the SD version I still hope it's SD660, as it is already available for quite some time, OR the older SD65x as there is no mid-end SoC made by QC more capable than those (SD660 excluded as it is newer & more expensive).
Believe me, SD630 is not worth buying IF u already owned SD625-powered device.

This could be potential fake since Chinese yuan 8888 could roughly translates to 1300 USD. :)

Anonymous, 16 Nov 2017Xiaomi's tactic now for that? You gotta pay the price for Mi Note 3 and nothing else...Low high, upper mid SoC with top of the line build quality. I'd pay that price any day if I had to buy now. Note 3 is probably the biggest steal on the market right now.

Redmi Note 5 will come with either SD630 or SD636 but Xiaomi always make surprise it could be SD450 and there is no word about Redmi Note 5 Pro/Plus so far.

Xiaomi already gain notoriety as "that seemingly good phone sold for cheap on the internet" with its mi 2.
Redmi Note 3 along with Redmi 3 are a phone that change Xiaomi from to "a phone sold in every grey market phone counter in the country"
It's a phone released to steal the market and did so admirably.

Following Xiaomi old release pattern, my prediction on Redmi Note 5 will be released with SD630 and There will be Redmi Note 5 Prime/Pro with SD660

630 or 636, most probably 630 or maybe the outdated 652 because they're cheap now?
