Most of the people can live without these. The basic parameters to judge any smartphones are it's build quality and design, performance, battery life, screen, camera and UI experience. One plus has been focusing only in these core factors and they have done an excellent job in these with maintaining price to minimum. If one plus will start to add stylus, waterproofing, qhd screen etc. it will increase it's prices and then people like you will be the first to complain about it's price. OP5T has great value for money.
Would've bought if it had a secondary wide angle lens camera.
All the Sammy, sony and apple fanboys/haters here spewing rubbish. And they will be the same ones crying on their forums about price, battery duration, lack of jack, aspect ratios etc. L
If Oneplus always try too meet these crybabies expectations, then they have missed their direction/ purpose. What they really want is an S8, V30 and U11 (apparently not an apple ) for less than 500$. Oneplus should never listen to them but to its true customers I.e those who want a high performance device for an affordable price.
None of them complained about the design, battery life, performance, lack of 3.5 mm jack, fragile glass, notch, no FPS ( Oneplus gives 2 options which are proven to work), lagg etc on their precious devices. Since it cost 700$ or more, it must be premium and worth it.
Oneplus has a good camera (yes not the best), face detection/fps, non- fragile, best performance phone with more specs than the competition but some would still find a reasons to complain
These phones aren't great they just offer loads of ram and the latest cpu and call it a flagship killer
However proper flagships come with waterproofing.... Better cameras... Better screens... High end dac... Better speakers... Better mics...some come with great stylus input... Better battery life... Better android skins... Much better support and warranty
They need to up their game to survive
This should have been the original 5 in the first place. But still absence of water proofing, better screen, stereo speakers is baffling. They could have provided these in 8 GB variant at least.
I expected to be disappointed, and on that front OnePlus delivered.
So yes, it did live to my expectations.
...it would've been nice if it didn't, but instead exceeded them
(Android 8, IP68, front-speakers, and a Slim Bezel-16:9 design)
Still an excellent phone, but the price is everything but competitive.500 euro is a lot, don't know how much is its Oppo sibling..
Btw,just found Galaxy S8 on german eBay brand new for 450 euro..apart from usual issues from Sammy you'll still get (way) better display&camera, not to mention availability and warranty..
I dont see it as flagship killer anymore......it should have flagship camera and flagship audio output with dedicated DAC.......its not have IP rating, no high resolution screen, no wireless charging. And not to mention poor after sales service and poor resale value.
It is not just a price, but a concept. Oneplus came to market with the "Never Settle" promise. But it failed! They have just settled on the market wave, with zero innovation. They got Oppo R11s and printed the brand "Oneplus", put 835 Snapdragon inside it, and it is all. They do not have a own project anymore. It is just another chinaphone with an English written brand on it.
SHAME on you Oneplus!
It's not a matter of upgrades to me. I think Oneplus kinda missed the point lately. Yes, they have grown as a company, and so their needs and objectives are different. But now, it's less of the original 'Flagship Killer' and more of an actual Flagship.
The greatest cause for concern is no Oreo at launch means no mandatory project Treble (and the fast updates from Google). We do have 3rd-party ROM that pick-up support after OnePlus quits our phone, but since we are actually paying OnePlus (not the 3rd-party developers) it would be nicer to have that support officially.
Do be aware this isn't exclusive to OnePlus, even the much fabled S8 will suffer from the same issue.
A brand-new unlocked S8 costs about 540Eur (in Europe's online retailers), so.... at least they didn't increase the price. That's already something, but they really have to do something if they want to remain competitive in Europe.
