Mzma PIB, 22 Nov 2017Xiaomi = King Of Hype.. MIUI 9 memory management even worst than MIUI 8, this is a fact.. ... morePerhaps that's specific to your case. I found MIUI 9 memory management better than MIUI 8, I never get freeze moment anymore despite opening the same set of apps when I was still in MIUI 8. The notification also works better where I still get notifications from applications that are not in autostart whitelist, I didn't get them in MIUI 8. Last but not least, the battery life improves by about 2-4 hours due to better standby consumption which is a welcome plus. Of course this will differ from person to person as we use our phones differently, but my experience with MIUI 9 is a lot better than you. I'm on Mi 5, btw.
HEY GsmARENA how about a battery test with updated software? there were claims of drastic fall. then your test results may be out of date.

MIUI 9 memory management even worst than MIUI 8, this is a fact..
If we read back 1st news said by Xiaomi CEO regarding MIUI 9.. he claim MIUI 9 can Uninstall all unwanted apps and even systems apps as well but after MIUI 9 global released, WTF.. Disable also can not, Uninstall dont think so..
I had installed MIUI v9 on 16-Nov-2017 on my Mi Mix 2, this is the second update for Mi Mix 2 received within Month of its release in India.
Xiaomi is improving their software upgrade strategy.
Had MIUI 9 on my Mi5 for few days and it's quite nice. Though, the upgrade is not huge and one would want Xiaomi to finally update it to Android 7.1 at least. It's still 7.0... But Mi2 users will be thrilled, getting Android 7 on such old device is a sight you don't see often if ever with any brand. Respectable Xiaomi! Certainly one of more important things that will keep me on Xiaomi for a long time if they keep up with such excellent level of support.
