So there is a backdoor access. Who knows what they could do with the olen backdoor?
GSMArena team: I suggest that you do a story about all so-called personal data collection accusations hurled at OnePlus so far, and clear the air. From what I have observed, it is all blown way out of proportion
Please also define what is 'Personal' data. Working in the financial services industry, I find it ridiculous how loosely this term is being used on these 'tech' sites.
Read the update. It is a non issue
So much noise about non- personal data collection. Huh
Anonymous, 22 Nov 2017What is the problem with this data collection? How does it hurt the customer? To my mind, t... moreCollecting everything without permission is the problem. OP is known as collecting personal information of customers.
AnonD-675500, 23 Nov 2017Xiaomi also do that once.. https://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/news/2359714/chinese-android-smartpho... moreGood job finding an article which is posted in 2014, which means it is probably still relevant.
AnonD-669027, 22 Nov 2017nope xiaomi never cheated like oneplusXiaomi also do that once..
One thing is stadistics, bugs, etc. And another serious and potentially dangerous is an app, probably even hided to not let you see it installed easilly, that allow remotely take your media files. Because is that function is implemented I bet that another to push more ones is present too. And now that it is known of its existence, someone will try to find it and take advantage of it for their benefit ... like copy your media, delete it and then blackmail you.
It is a serious accusation. Let's see what the answer is from OnePlus ... Especially if the evidence is flagrant and can not be denied. Or if they try to avoid responsibilities if they can remotely erase it before everything explodes.
Anonymous, 22 Nov 2017Isn't this just like Window where they receive ur crashes report and stuff?? Come on, Oneplus ... moreIt is not the same. The app silently does the upload for one (wonder if it even waits for wifi?). Two, is that there is not a way for the user to opt out of this one yet, which they should allow. However maybe this guy just has a bone to pick with OP...
[deleted post]Over 92% of china population is chinese.
All those chinese OEM are owned by chinese.
So dont act d**b plz ;)
AnonD-669027, 22 Nov 2017nope xiaomi never cheated like oneplusAnd Huawei seems the same - never been catched on cheating.
And of course we instantly see OnePlus bots here, singing the same song -"Everyone do tat, it's ok!" No, it is not. If people can investigate data, collecting and trasferring by any app - it's a serious security hole. But does OnePlus care user's security? Never. I think they have to cange "Never settle" to "Ever collect"
Apple and Samsung does it, so why not? Those two just know how to pay their way out of it.
Isn't this just like Window where they receive ur crashes report and stuff?? Come on, Oneplus isn't the only doing this..
That's why Elliot Alderson actually uses a Galaxy S5. In the series he also uses a Nexus and an iPhone 6.
AnonD-680876, 22 Nov 2017A Chinese company will always cheat nope xiaomi never cheated like oneplus
Now, Carl Pei will tweet "We are actively looking into this" as if he just discovered it and never heard about it's existence before....
