Please someone answer!!!! Can you have face id turned on and still use Thumb id, or can you not use Thumb id at all anymore??

It used the front cam... moreAgreed but i think fingerprint position got to do more about having a different look compared to every other phone. No one did that camera and finger print in same line with a box design. I think sammy was scared to look same as cheaper phones.

Actually they removed the front mounted fingerprint and put it on the back cause they wanted to have bigger screens, aka infinity screens.

It used the front camera and was easily fooled with a picture of the individual's face. Eventually this feature was removed from subsequent Android updates that followed. Fingerprint sensor on phone was also done before Apple brought it back, as you said. It's all about implementation. I'm not talking about who did it first and no, Apple wasn't the first to implement facial recognition and fingerprint sensor on a phone but Apple popularised the fingerprint sensor and maybe even the facial recognition technology. OnePlus is only bringing this facial recognition unlocking after Apple used it in the iPhone X, after all. After the iPhone 5S launched with Touch ID, Android OEMs started to adopt the fingerprint sensor. You can objectively decide for yourself which is a better and more secure implementation, facial recognition unlocking using just the front camera or the front camera with some sorts of 3D mapping sensor. Undeniably, Apple's facial recognition technology using the TrueDepth mapping sensor is far superior and secure from the competition. As for Samsung relocating the fingerprint sensor on the S8 & S8+ next to the camera (an inconvenient position for sure), it was due to a poor and rushed design choice. No conspiracy theory like the one you've given.

Android has had native face unlock since 2011's ICS update. Hardly anyone used it. Obviously now Apple has it it will be a necessity.

Thanks to truedepth for that super useful feature. definitely worth 1k price.
Motorola/toshiba were the first to have fingerprint scanner on the phone, not your chit. And moving fingerprint scanner to the back for Samsung was because Apple stole the "under display fingerprint scanner" idea, and paid supplier to make sure they get in prior or at least the same time. And it's not Inconvenient. you're just mad because your new iPhone's battery is balloon-ed up now

the probability is 1 of 50.000 faces to unlock you phone on the oneplus 5. That''s a high security level for me already and enough. Friends of mine, nobody can unlock it, i've tried to at least 80 different people. None of them could facial unlock the phone.
