[deleted post]1st Elop is a M$ trojan, the best from M$,he's try 2 save WP7 by using Nokia. If he wanted 2 save Nokia he would push 4 Meego OS as the smart phone strategy or better still use Maemo 6(compatible with Meego) if he saw that Meego wasn't ready. But it's sad that he saw an opportunity 4 M$,anyway WP7 will never be as good as Meego. Now he want 2 trick customers into buying that WP7 sea ray thing that looks like N9.Already feel sorry 4 those customer who buy the WP7 thing and discover later it's a nightmare.
This is insane. I don't want a Windows Phone. I want that MeeGo. And it doesn't matter what Nokia (or other people) might say to rationalize me into buying a WP. I'm getting that MeeGo even if that page didn't include my country.
The article was sure worth a read, and even if he had good reasons to focus on WP7, why the heck does he not want to sell mobiles which were already produced?!? Is the N9 so good he wants them all for himself?
Nokia Rocks, 02 Jul 2011Thank you for posting that link.
Most Nokia fanboys here do not understand and appreciate w... moreelop is doing what he thinks is the best for nokia, any1 in his positions will also do the same thing regardless of what others saying. elop come to nokia when no others would dare, and if he thinks symbian and meego is not going to save nokia, that would only means that he has done his research forehand.
All I'm saying is....he knows what he is doing is not for his own interest or MS, he is trying to save and bring back the glorius time when nokia IS the king in mobile bussines, well not so kingly in this present time, and he will do it even it means he would disregards symbian and meego which is a burning platform and D.O.A, Elop have my support, thumbs up!!!
r 3 b 3 l, 02 Jul 2011Nokia invented the mobile phone. Last i checked, they were finnish."Martin Cooper, a Motorola researcher and executive is considered to be the inventor of the first practical mobile phone for handheld use in a non-vehicle setting, after a long race against Bell Labs for the first portable mobile phone." -wiki-
First network launched in Japan.
Nokia did not invent mobile phones.

He's done nothing significant to prove he is better than the other previous CEOs.
If anything, it should be Nokia's CEO during the release of Nokia 2110 (the 1st GSM phone) who should be considered the greatest since he basically pioneered GSM technology.
His decision to use WP7 as primary OS for Nokia is too huge a risk.
It could lead to the downfall of Nokia.
He should've focused more on MeeGo instead of WP7. Qt is the future of applications development.

Most Nokia fanboys here do not understand and appreciate what Elop is doing. To them, he is a fool, a trojan, a traitor, and stupid. That article paints Elop's true character and how he tries to steer Nokia into the right direction.
Again, thank you for posting that and I do hope that these blind fanboys will understand what's trully going with Elop and Nokia. For me, Elop is hands down the best CEO Nokia ever had and he's the right man for the job. He's the most human among the crop of tech CEOs and he's one of the greatest.
Why Nokia don't run Android -
"He (Stephen Elop) tried to negotiate a deal with Google to run Android, but Google refused to give the world's biggest phonemaker any advantages over its smaller partners, meaning Nokia's corps of 11,600 engineers would have next to no ability to add their own innovations to Google's software."
i have used nokia phones for the last 15 years and they said now n9 is not gonna be in south america. stupid marketing decision. i better buy the new 2.3 and so android based phone instead a crappy wp7. all wp are trash!!!
It's ok to skip USA. Noone here supports Nokia anyway. After my n8 experience and with all the nokia changes, I'm done too with Nokia. Sorry, but I have to move on. I'm losing out in USA using a Nokia. Noone make apps for my OS.
Yet Another Android, 01 Jul 2011Wow, that article was simply degrading to Elop Nokia Rocks. The Bias and arrogance portrayed i... moreLighten up, dude. He just said that as a humour. Elop is the most human among these CEOs and he will call crap as crap and won't BS you. Have you read the whole article? It said that MeeGo got bugs and they will only have 3-4 MeeGo devices if they pursue on the MeeGo route. 3-4 MeeGo devices by 2014 is not enough to keep Nokia afloat.
Jeromeo, 01 Jul 2011It's time for Nokia to STOP EXCLUDING the inventor of the mobile phone, the financial capital ... moreSorry to disappoint you, but NOKIA invented mobile phone, that is why all, from Samsung to Apple pay for Nokia's patents.
So sorry, USA is not the center of the world, as you guys tend to think.
I think its a bit early in the game to be harsh on WP7. The true test will be when Nokia launches the phones. 2012 will be the crucial year for the OS wars to truly determine who stays, and who goes.
Yet Another Android, 01 Jul 2011Wow, that article was simply degrading to Elop Nokia Rocks. The Bias and arrogance portrayed i... moreyou have it in a nutshell.
Being forced to have administrative prviledges on A modern PC that has broadband internet access to use a smart phone is an onerous constraint. Apple getting away with it. but there not interested in most of Nokia's customers. how is this a good thing for Nokia? xman
Wow, that article was simply degrading to Elop Nokia Rocks. The Bias and arrogance portrayed in it were appauling. It just proves even more how Elop was never interested in even Android by his comment "He must've been using an android phone". He probably didn't really call either.
Also, just read the first line in this very page at gsmarena. That ought to tell you that the N9 and Meego were well received. Now read the Sea Ray article and see how eager people were when it was announced. Its no competition. People want Meego, people don't want WP7 otherwise Elop wouldn't have to force WP7 on us.
Nokia Rocks, 01 Jul 2011This is why MeeGo was dropped. Please read. http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/1... moreWow, that was one of the most biased articles I've ever read. Self centered, arrogant and down right rude. It shows the true side of Elop that everybody already knew. "He must've been using an Android phone" Says Elop, comments like that indicate that Elop mkst likely didn't call Otiomus (whatever his name is) or if he did, he had no plans to try Android anyway. Find a better article next time befause that one was down right disgusting to read.
Nokia Rocks, 01 Jul 2011Dude, what you are seeing on YouTube are just a bunch of noisy fanboys who are trying to creat... moreFact is, WP7 sucks. Hardly anybody wants it. Meego just showed it's face and almost Everybody except you and boy with the red hat were impressed and eager for more. Now you saying that there's no interest in Meego? You may need to rewatch the unveiling of it and see reactions.
Also, screw just Youtube. Look at pretty much ANY phone site that talked about the N9 and Meego. They are mostly Praising it for it's ease of use, Great design, and capabilities. There is high interest in Meego.
Die Hard Android and iOS fans are interested in Meego. Why are they not interested in WP7? Hardly anybody likes or wants WP7.
Also, The N9 and Meego doesn't have to be forced on people for them to buy it. The Sea Ray and WP7 on the other hand...
Nokia Rocks, 01 Jul 2011Dude, what you are seeing on YouTube are just a bunch of noisy fanboys who are trying to creat... moreHow are you going to say "a bunch of fanboys hyping the n9" then say it's like "anti-apple fanboys crying about antennaegate but did that stop apple from selling iphones?". That is complete opposite comparisons. If anything, creating hype is like apple fanboys that hyped the iphone which helped it sell the 18 million that is sold last quarter alone.
