Not sure about the efficiency of that panel though.
I'd guess 2019.

Cassy O, 25 Nov 2017Yes, Sony was the first to show us a "Prototype" Micro LED display, but Samsung was the first ... moreBut Sony is now starting to develop everything about it to be able to implement it on smartphones as early as possible. At CES this year, they showed us a 8K video played purely on this display technology and man, it is absolutely mind-blowing. QLED is still nice, but so are LG and Sony's OLED TVs. Now rocking a Sony KD43X70E and I'm still in loved with its quality.

Means no trashy ones like from Samsung, instead the highest quality OLED displays from Japan.
Forget Kpop and Kdrama, Anime and Manga are better.

Even if it had one, I'd choose it over the nasty low resolution PenTile cr@p from Samsung. And I'd take SLIGHTLY WORSE BLACKS over SIGNIFICANTLY WORSE WHITES AND OTHER COLORS any day, and hell no I'd want color shift on my screen. My Zenfone Max has no color shifting, so there shouldn't be anything on even more expensive phones as well.
Cassy O, 25 Nov 2017Oh really?
But you know what is the difference between Samsung and Sony? The difference is ... moreI know no real difference between Samsung and Sony, except the latter makes high quality products that aren't half-baked, and they execute it very well, unlike from Samsung.
Sony called it their own way they want it. The same time, they also explained every specific detail about it for those who are curious to know more about it. It's the same way Apple names all of their technologies yet you give no complain about it. I get it, Sony has no right to call whatever they want.
You want them to call their smartphones as "Sony Smartphone" instead of "Sony Xperia" because you know that "Xperia" is a much more unique name than "Galaxy", as do the real products.
Imperator Neubaticus, 25 Nov 2017The truth hurts, i know. Which is why you're feeling it right now, huh?
Anonymous, 25 Nov 2017Never again will i get a sub par quality handset from Sony. Bug ridden a very fragile...drop i... morethe reason why they keep the bezel is not for protection. it is because they are too lazy and too slow to innovate. they wait until the competitors successfully produce bezelless phones, and then copy.
Anonymous, 25 Nov 2017Never again will i get a sub par quality handset from Sony. Bug ridden a very fragile...drop i... moreyes yes you are right. bezelless phones + protection cases still look slimmer and a lot more durable than xperias without cases.
and i can imagine if people are using xperia with case, LOL big bezel + case, it looks very very bad and nasty
Never again will i get a sub par quality handset from Sony. Bug ridden a very fragile...drop it once and it's dead, massive bezels didn't help with protection
Anonymous, 25 Nov 2017Sammy advertises de QLED TV as something new. Even old Z2 has Quantum Dots a.k.a Triluminus ... moreBefore the QLED, Samsung SUHD TV has implemented that technology. And as long as i know, Samsung didn't advertise it as something new but Samsung advertise it as QLED is better than OLED because it's brighter, QLED can guarantee your tv doesn't burn ins, and i agree about that, right now my family still didn't want to switch to OLED TV because my lil' sister can watch cartoon up to 2-3hrs, i'm afraid that TV Channel's logo can cause burn in. And if you ask why did Samsung use OLED on their smartphone, that is different thing.

Glad Sony dropped OLED even though they where the first who presented OLED based TV's in 2005/2006? and instead focused on innovating/improving Long Lived LCD panels with their Bravia/Triluminous tech/whatever they call it.

Most of Sony fan... moreIt's true that the Micro LED display technology is not pure Sony's tech just like Samsung's Pentile matrix technology (In March 2008, Samsung bought the Clairvoyante for their PenTile related IP and technology).
And yes Samsung also has Micro LED display but if i'm not mistaken Sony was the first well known manufacturer who show us Micro LED display prototype and the Sony Micro LED display also way... More advance than anything from Samsung (at least for now).
And once again if i'm not mistaken Sony Micro LED tech is unique because they somehow able to make the LED smaller than human hair.
