It's all about first impression. Most people only try different phones at store and pick which made best first impression. IPhone have very good first impression, for example nokia don't have it all, nokia sucks so bad in that area.
Expensive android phones has first good impression too, almost only difference what you see with testing those at store is iPhone doesnt have widgets. If customer doesn't care that, most of people pick iPhone, it just looks better, feels more intuitive, feels more expensive etc.
And with iOS 5 notification center iPhone's first impression gets even bettter and now it's actually can compete with android widgets area too, still it do very littlle what widgets can do, but you can't see that while testing phones at store.
Second important thing for Apple is, almost everyone else make those huge display phones nowdays. Soon iPhone has it's own market with 3,5" display and doesn't have almost any competition in that area.
Many complaining iPhone having small screen, but because of that it's actually stand out from others much more than having big screen and have to compete with galaxy s2, htc sensation and others huge phones, and there's many of them! If you ask me, too many, and it's getting even bigger, htc is bringing 4,7" WP7 phone.

You can also see it as iPhone users being sad lonely people jumping from one partner to another while the Android users have stronger and longer meaningfull relationships everytime they meet someone.
Prostitues have sex all the time, does that make them happy people?

I doubt there are too many grandmothers there. Techy people love iOS as much as Android. iOS provides for as much, if not more tech innovation at times, due to a more uniform base to work with.
Fragmentation means that Android is more suited for tech innovation on a more individual basis.
For example, the medical community are now increasingly using iPhones and iPad.

Still the iOS is very good, easy to use for people who want a phone ready out of the box. With android, the hardware is better like Nokia, but need to be set (clockwork,...).
Apple is good for your grandmother or for a woman who is not techy and dont want use her brain so much.it works juuuuussst OK , but you are limited by apple...no real blue tooth, no good wireless,... so yeas, it s for people who just want use a nice good looking iphone to call and play games.
in fact what people need is a real boy/girlfriend and stop to believe that iphone will bring them love.

no doubt about it, iphone is the best selling phone, im not an apple fanboy though, im just accepting the fact that the iphone does attracts many customers, heres a typical customer does, goes to stores that sells phones, try many kinds of phones, when they tries iphone, wow, very fast and responsive, eyecandy, sexy design, thats where the phrase "FIRST IMPRESSION LASTS" comes in. compare to iphone, other phone seems so laggy, retina display is amazing, now, what phone can give that kind of first impression to customers? that why iphones sold a lot that any other phones, only geeks like me does some extensive research first before buying a phone, only geeks demands advanced features, and iphone cant attract geeks because it doesnt so much features, and it has so many restrictions, regular persons doesnt care about those restrictions. there are only few geeks compared to regular peoples, thats the reason why iphone sold a lot

Actually its interesting to note that iPhone is also making a lot of inroads in the business segement. Compare that to Blackberry's massive market share decline, and you have your answer: iPhones are being bought by the corporate sector too (in case you don't get it, by men, with money, and the ones running the world). lol.

In my country where I live and work. I've seen most of the women are using iPhone 4, second are men and third are young students in primary (high level) and secondary grades. Most of the Android users switched their phones to iPhone 4. In general, 80% live in my country are iPhone users. 20% are the other phone users.

Funny how apple came out with 1 phone (4 gens) and made such enormous no of haters around the world... and yet no one is stepping on the android. its just a purely successful phone made by a company who built computers.. who needs to change battery when you change a phone model every year? amd my 2g battery is still very much up and good, most new cars are already coming out with ios device input support, that means i dont need to bring my car charger everywhere i go. Funny that the new kia supports the iphone and not their own korean phones...

They als... moreMaybe was for gift, but the 85% of the persosn we saw outside of Apple Store in Texas was man almos no womans, however we count around 500 person in the file waiting for buy the iPhone 4, the creazy part is that was the same file for almost 2 entire weeks :P
Gosh too many people buying that gadget??
And at the launch of the new HTC, Nokias and Sammys if there was 10 people that was excesive...I will never buy another iPhone again, but is incredible the amount of people that phone get...

Women also buy 10 times more shoes and clothes than men. They also are buy make-up every year for so much money that makes the cost of iPhone seem like 1 dollar lollipop. Etc etc... Women are already the powerconsumers of the world, but that doesn't make most of them smart enough to take over the world. One reason is their love for the iPhone. Also iPhone is popular among soacial wannabes, 14 yearl old girls and trendfreaks.
I would say it's the other way around, seeing in what segment of people Apple sell most or their products and also so many units, i would say that we are one step away from having monkeys come out of the jungle to take over the world because we have dumbed ourselves down..
