Tom-Helge, 06 Jul 2011And because you can get cheap Android phones with all of the functions as i have told earlier,... moreTom... if there were only 5 Android phones Android would be in last place right now. And those cheap Android phones... many of them are completely incapable of running the latest version of the OS due to their hardware restrictions AND Google making Android so heavy it won't run on the lesser devices. So no, Tom, these lesser phones cannot do what the more expensive ones can. And their level of support is pathetic - they were obsolete the moment they were introduced. Hell - they were designed to be that way. Why? Cheap manufactures that know all a customer needs to see is "runs Android" and they'll buy it. Wait till that poor customer realizes his phone is too slow to run even Angry Birds.
AnonD-1825, 06 Jul 2011"And because this isn't possible in iOS, then you see the reason why Android is growing b... moreGreat point Duel!
I've said this same argument to Tom before and he doesn't see it. Android is growing globally because of these cheap crappy devices that people can get for very cheap prices OR free or even "buy one get one free" deals on the low resolution, slow processor, Android 2.1 OS running phones. Many of these phones are not upgradable and were past their prime before they even were being sold. Apple's slowest product is still relatively fast in comparison to the low end Android offerings If you completely eliminate that low end cheap class of Android phone then the market share probably would topple back in Apple's favor.
And that is another good point. I did see that as well - only Apple and ZTE increased their market share recently. There were some Android makers that LOST ground. So where Tom is getting his idea that Android is crushing everyone so badly, not sure. He also seems to think that since Android is ahead of Apple in market share that somehow Apple must be losing share. Has he not been paying attention? LOL! Others like RIM, WP7, Symbian, WebOS - they are the ones losing share.
There's a line that people cross when they love a product so much that makes them so stubborn they are unwilling to have an open mind. This also causes them to be a bit more disrespectful. So I hope he is reading this reply as well lol.
AnonD-1825, 06 Jul 2011"And because this isn't possible in iOS, then you see the reason why Android is growing b... moreAnd because you can get cheap Android phones with all of the functions as i have told earlier, then it's not a hard brainer on what most peoples choose.
Now, think for a second if there only had existed 5 different Android phones in the world now, then each of those Android phones would sell extremely many of their phones each.
And then take several houndred different Android phones that are out today. You wont see that each of the phones are selling extremely many of their phones simpley because there exist so many other phones that suits other better than the other Android phones do.
So if we see it in the Android vs iOS (iPhones) way in sold units, then lol, iOS (iPhones) isn't that big really.
Tom-Helge, 06 Jul 2011I know how Apple works. I have tried all of the iPhones in and out and i also own an iPod Touc... moreThe N8 runs circles around the Galaxy S I had because it doesn't have nearly the lag as the Galaxy nor does it crash or freeze like the Galaxy did. Did you not hear me when I said my Galaxy after rebooting took about 30 minutes to even boot to the home page??? That's pathetic! I did nothing different than any other normal average user has done with their Android device. I used it just like they did. I send messages, composed emails, took videos and photos, surfed the web, downloaded apps.
I got my Galaxy in early February. I got a blue case for it. Just to prove to you I have one the UPC on the side of the box is: 8 806071 163956. The case is black and right above the UPC is the serial number (haha think again if you think I'm gonna post it here), pull off the back cover and inside... battery says EB575152VU, etc etc. Yes, genius, I have a Galaxy S here.
I never said I owned an iPhone 3GS. Never said I did.
Getting back to the N8 - its the best camera phone on the market. And don't get too confident about Android's superiority over Symbian. Symbian's big problem is the UI, not its usability. Its got some features that iOS doesn't have and vice versa. Symbian 3 has been much improved over its predecessor. Maybe you haven't used it but its much easier to use than before. And yes - it butt rapes the Galaxy S 2's camera. It may not record in 1080p but it does have lossless zoom while recording 720p. The Anna update is suppose to further enhance the camera's superiority by adding 30fps (although you can do that now with the CameraPro app). So go ahead and try to act like the Galaxy S 2's camera is anything near the N8. The N8 takes some of the nicest photos I've ever seen.
So you can doubt that I've owned a Galaxy all you want but I have it right here in front of me. Sitting here I have the Galaxy, LG BL40, SE Vivaz, SE Elm, and the recent member to the family - the Nokia N8.
And any forum you could post about people complaining about their iPhone's is irrelevant since there are forums for most popular phones where people are posting complaints and issues. And when you make as many iPhones as Apple has - yes some will have problems.
So for me it doesn't matter how great you say Android is - I hate it. I base it on personal experience and your arrogance only drives me FARTHER away from it. As many have said before - the arrogant fandroid arrogance does nothing to help Android's cause. It just pushes us away farther. If that was your intent - then you succeeded. If you wanted us to learn - then you did it all wrong. You can't teach when you are throwing rocks yelling and laughing.
Sorry, pal, I'll keep my N8. It helps me to get out from behind the computer screen some days and experience life... I've taken more photos with this than any other device I've owned. I love it. The quality is amazing. The phone may only be running at 680mhz, but that doesn't stop the camera from beating the pants off of those big fat arrogant Android phones and their cocky owners. You couldn't produce images like these on your Galaxy S2 no matter how hard you tried.
And btw for capturing 1080p video I use a dedicated 16mp camcorder with optical zoom that was designed for that type of task.
Tom-Helge, 06 Jul 2011I know how Apple works. I have tried all of the iPhones in and out and i also own an iPod Touc... more"And because this isn't possible in iOS, then you see the reason why Android is growing big extremely fast, because peoples loves to customize their devices after their needs."
Lets Talk little bit about extremely cheap and crappy android phones, there's zte, huawei etc almost free phones. They sell very well purely because they are very cheap almost free.
"ZTE’s Blade touch-screen handset has racked up sales in excess of two million, making it one of the best-selling smartphones globally." this kind of phones does android share look much better, still the phone is total crap, i
used my cousin zte blade today and even moving in os was painful and very tacky and the whole touch screen felt very bad, totally useless if you ask me. so still that kind of very crappy phones raise android share.
Last quarter zte and Apple was only one which raise their market share. Where i live that zte blade outsell galaxy s And all the newest andoid phones. every month, but what is interesting iPhone 4 sell more every month. How iPhone can beat zte blade sells but galaxy s cant?
Big reason for android big market shares are those very cheap crappy phones, not the phones which compete against iPhone 4, because iPhone easily outsell everyone those, but those countries who sold these cheap zte etc.
chinese phones are always competing with iPhone for second or first place.
The reason for android success is not os or how good it or how bad it is, reason is very cheap android phones, not expensive ones.
Oh, and just to add this to this discussion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1149376
Enjoy. And read what the earlier iPhone users there are telling.
Tom-Helge, 06 Jul 2011Nope, i don't need the Samsung Galaxy S II next year. Because there wont be any new technology... moreYou should read up on this stuff before you start posting it Tom. You think you know Samsung but I bet you are some little kid staying up late because it's summer and your parents don't care. Mobile CPU's are going to be 10x faster than what they are now by end of December this year. They just posted it in the blog. And you assume that Samsung wouldn't take this technology on board? The next Galaxy S will kill its predicessor just like the S II killed the original.
AnonD-1825, 06 Jul 2011Yes i have used my iPhone 3gs two year now and it hasn't never crashed, or booting itself, or ... moreThe statement that iPhone or iOS never crash is pure bs.
When i used my iPod Touch, i was seeing that the iPod was freezing and rebooting from time to time.
So they are not as perfect as you claim them to be.
Yes ofc, i'm not denying that Android doesn't crash either, because we all know Android crash from time to time to.
There was a bug earlier in the Galaxy S II or in the Android version it was using, that made the phone to soft reboot if you used the default music player for a little time.
It would just reboot at random time.
So we all know that both Android and iOS have bugs and are far from being perfect that way.
AnonD-10525, 06 Jul 2011I don't think you grasp how Apple works. Apple is crazy with joy for how well its Mac line is... moreI know how Apple works. I have tried all of the iPhones in and out and i also own an iPod Touch where i have used every of the OS'es.
Apple / iPhone is eating up market share?
LOL, what are Android doing worldwide then?
See, you owns different Apple products and wont even admit that there exist better OS'es and phones than iOS and iPhones.
Yes, your iPhone 3GS is working perfect for you, but that doesn't change the fact that there exist better OS'es and phones out on the market.
You have to accept that fact.
And i'm not telling right away with what i said over that only Android is better. When i say it exist better OS'es out on the maket, i can talk about Windows Phone 7, WebOS and Meego or even Bada.
For all i know Windows Phone 7, WebOS or Meego might even be better than Android.
Meego is getting good reviews though.
You have to wake up and see out of the box that those OS'es might be much better than iOS.
I haven't tried Windows Phone 7, WebOS and Meego yet, so i can't say with 100% that they are better, so that's why i say they MIGHT be better.
But explain to me why 500000 users everyday choose an Android phone over an iPhone 4 if iOS and iPhone 4 is so good as you say?
As things are now, tons of Nokia, RIM users are leaving Nokia and RIM and then heads over to Android.
When Android have captured all of the users it can from Nokia and RIM and others probably, then what's going to happen then?
Not only that iOS will lose more and more users over Android, but iOS have to be totally renewed.
Now i'm talking about the same boring UI that Apple have used on iOS since 2007.
I mean jesus, how does a company expect users to stay when peoples goes extremely bored of the same UI years after years?
At least, themes should have been allowed in iOS 5.
But meh, Apple knows what theme that is best for you, right?
Because you can personalize pretty much everything, like real cars, TV's, laptops, even my mouse and keyboard. Then normal users expect to be able to customize mobilephones to.
And because this isn't possible in iOS, then you see the reason why Android is growing big extremely fast, because peoples loves to customize their devices after their needs.
No, i don't like iOS, and i have given very good and clear reasons for it.
Nokia N8 is a bad phone because of Symbian ^3. But still, it's the best camera / 720p video recording phone out on the market.
You say Nokia N8 runs circles around Galaxy S?
LOL i don't buy that. Every tests criticises Nokia N8 because of it's horrible OS. And Nokia N8 doesn't even have a good web browser lol.
And it's freaking slow compared to Galaxy S. So how can Nokia N8 run circles around it?
If you talk about the camera and video recording function, then yeah, Galaxy S gets raped HARD by Nokia N8.
And to the problems you claims you have (while i doubt you have ever had a Galaxy S). Just because you have screwed up your Android OS / Galaxy S phone doesn't means it's a bad phone when it's your own fault for those things.
One of the guys that work in the same place as i do have the Galaxy S, and he loves the phone. It's fast and everything works on it like it should.
The only problem he had was when he was trying to update the phone one time, then something screwed up.
Other than that, the phone is really nice and fast.
Ehh, i don't think it's any better to do the typical 'oh man iOS and iPhone is so amazing, incredible, great, wonderfull yadda yadda yadda' braggin that Apple does.
Because i know many that have bought an iPhone just because Apple gets so many to think that IT IS as good as Apple says things are, while finding out later after they have bought one iPhone that it is a pain in the ass for them.
Many of those didn't expect that they was forced to use iTunes, they did expect to be able to peronalize the home screen and that kind of things to their liking. They didn't know they have to use a computer before they can use the phone fully out.
There was many more things that simply didn't know about before they bought an iPhone.
So it ended up that they sold their iPhones and bought an Android phone.
The iPhone world is not that good, problem free, without issues, simple and easy as you always claim it to be.
And to the last thing you said. The fact is that it's not only me that says the Samsung Galaxy S II is the best phone in the world now. EVERYONE that have tested the phone says it's currently the best phone in the world.
When it's the best, then it's the best in the world. Simple as that.
[deleted post]Hey no offence. But there's a part where you said iphone 5 users are probably iphone 4 users getting an upgrade or some sort. Like you implied that iphone users are just that small group of people. But you've got to know that Singapore has a crazy high demand for iphones. 50% of our smartphones are iphones. Iphone here is almost like the norm. My family of 4 uses iphone except me. It disturbs me.. But thats the truth!
AnonD-1825, 06 Jul 2011"Basicly, most want a phone that can do most things without any lag / stuttering AT ALL w... moreHaha, and what most things can iPhone 4 do smoothly that is sooooooo heavy on the hardware lol?
Surfing the web, looking on pictures, reading / writing e-mails, playing some games, liastening to music ++++++.
Clearly, the iPhone 4 users are using programs and games that REALLY require RAW hardware power LOL.
And still you are talking about how iPhone 3GS was in 2009 when it was released.
If you haven't figured it out yet, it's 06.07.2011 today and not 2009.
AnonD-10525, 06 Jul 2011I'm getting to the point where I don't think anything any of us say to Tom is going to make a ... moreIt was funny reading how all you people debated online. And i totally agree with you that all that matters is that you love your IOS! But about the "iTV" thing. He really was quoting what someone else said! you've gotta read it again to catch what he said! Honestly i support android. But totally believes that Android and IOS are targeting at different groups of people! I love how IOS is user-friendly, runs so smoothly and doesnt hang. But i love android for the fact that it offers so many choices, really multitasks and its totally customisable. No offence to people who takes extreme sides! im merely sharing my views.
AnonD-10525, 06 Jul 2011Hey Duel... that is exactly why I use iOS devices. Sadly I don't have the iPhone, wish I did.... moreYes i have used my iPhone 3gs two year now and it hasn't never crashed, or booting itself, or need to boot because phone freeze or something like that.
i Read galaxy s2 users comments today, and many say it freezes, booting itself and crashing already. So basic android stuff. Buggy software just like it was with first galaxy s.
Many users already are very frustrated with many problems with Galaxy s2.
Actually after read that forum it's opened my eyes, galaxy s2 isn't anything that good what Tom try say, There's clearly many problems with galaxy s2 hardware and software what i readed.
And so many has tried to say this Tom that software is much more important than hardware.
This is the one reason why iPhone has for years a row most satisfied customers, everyone who own iPhone knows how well it works, doesnt crash, doesn't bootin itself, doesnt freeze, doesnt lag etc. It always works like how it worked when you bought it.
AnonD-1825, 06 Jul 2011"Basicly, most want a phone that can do most things without any lag / stuttering AT ALL w... moreI'm getting to the point where I don't think anything any of us say to Tom is going to make a difference. he is stuck on his opinions, no matter how right or wrong they may be. He is correct in saying that the hardware in the Galaxy S 2 is superior. We knew that. Nobody questioned that. Its the fact that he acts like Apple JUST came out with the iPhone 4.
I may not come back to this article primarily because this could go on for months and he'll never change his view or his tactics. I like iOS and so do many. That is all that matters.
AnonD-1825, 06 Jul 2011"Basicly, most want a phone that can do most things without any lag / stuttering AT ALL w... moreHey Duel... that is exactly why I use iOS devices. Sadly I don't have the iPhone, wish I did. But i love my iPad and iPod touch. They work soooo well! Never crash, never freeze. Very smooth and responsive.
Tom-Helge, 06 Jul 2011Nope, i don't need the Samsung Galaxy S II next year. Because there wont be any new technology... moreI don't think you grasp how Apple works. Apple is crazy with joy for how well its Mac line is doing right now. Its eating up market share, which is awesome! The iOS world is probably more successful for Apple than Android is for any other company. Why? They sell roughly 5 different devices that run it - iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4, iPad 2, iPod touch 4th gen, and Apple TV 2. And the market share that Apple currently has that is comprised of ONLY these 5 devices is staggering. The money Apple has been able to make by offering its users an fantastic, seamless, trouble free, integrated, intuitive, safe, supported, and FUN (app store content) experience is huge! Do you reeeaaalllly think Apple is "pissed off" at Samsung for that? No.
You may not like Apple, you may hate iOS (which you do - admit it), you may hate the iOS product line (you do), and you may think that the only people that buy them are stupid people (wrong again). But Apple doesn't care what you think... and neither do we. I love, repeat, love my iOS devices. I have 3 - iPod 4th gen, iPad 1, and Apple TV (love it). They all WORK! And they work WELL! I never have problems with them. And after my dismal experience with that headache of a phone (that inferior Galaxy S) I am strongly reluctant to trust anything any Fandroid tells me about any Android device. I will most certainly think twice before buying one again. When I went for my new phone with my contract in February it was either the Galaxy S or the Nokia N8. I kick myself that I didn't get the N8 right away.
And I find it odd that for all I've said about the N8 - you've never said a word about it. I'm guessing because you consider it to be such an inferior device that its not worth responding to. Sorry but its running circles around the supposedly superior Galaxy S. Is the N8 perfect? No. It lags when doing certain things. But I will say that if it ever has an app problem all I do is "turn it off and on again" and life is good. Last time I did that with my Galaxy - it took 30 minutes to get it to load back up. When it did apps were gone, facebook was messed up, email wasn't loading, etc etc... you name it - it did it!
So you can see how my experience with Android is a dismal one. Leading me to not trust you or anyone else who tries to push android down our throats. If I get another one in the future it will be on my own terms... and certainly NOT because of anything you said. If anything - guys like you do more harm to Androids reputation than good. If you would be informative rather than a downright jerk people would be more receptive. But for as many times as we've said THAT to you - you fail to understand that to.
There is really no point in arguing with you - you are as stubborn as an ox and not open minded at all. You could have easily said "The galaxy S 2 is a great phone, probably the best, but the iPhone 4 is a decent phone as well." And then proceed to objectively and respectfully tell us why. No you just like to lash out at people.
Tom-Helge, 06 Jul 2011But an expensive Android device usually are both faster and much better than the iPhone again.... more"Basicly, most want a phone that can do most things without any lag / stuttering AT ALL while having a phone that is fast."
FINALLY!!! in that line is almost every reason why iPhone sells over others.
When i iPhone 3gs came it was MUCH faster and smoother and without any lag compared to other models out there, same for iPhone 4 when it came it was ultrasmooth and ultrafast compared to others, it still is so finally you undesrtand why iPhone sells. iPhone 5 is going to be even more faster.
Tom-Helge, 06 Jul 2011First of all, i have never said iTV anywhere. Last time i was talking about the Apple TV i was... moreTom you really need to look at that post again. I copied and pasted your OWN TEXT... you clearly said iTV.
And if I was "butthurt" I would have walked away a long time ago, AND there would be nobody else here saying the exact same things to you. The problem is that you are arrogant and don't know how to show anyone respect.
Anonymous, 06 Jul 2011You say that iPhone 4 users will get the iPhone 5. I guess you are implying that these users ... moreNope, i don't need the Samsung Galaxy S II next year. Because there wont be any new technology early next year that will be so good that there is a reason to upgrade.
And not only that, the Samsung Galaxy S III wont be a Galaxy S II killer, it will be an update to the current Galaxy S II (like the update from iPhone 3G to 3GS) and it will be released (after what the rumours says) just to piss off Apple even more.
And ofc to show who the king is on the mobile market.
Now, if you care to read my longer post under, you will see that i'm not bashing or saying that iOS sucks like tou think i do.
I'm saying iOS 5 / iPhone 4 is all fine, but there exist much better phones and much better mobile OS'es out on the market regardless of how good you think iOS is.
So read my longer post under and see what i'm actually saying before you report me because you are butthurt over me because i'm right.
Anonymous, 06 Jul 2011"Then you said this: People who already own apple product are going to love icloud and ho... moreFirst of all, i have never said iTV anywhere. Last time i was talking about the Apple TV i was saying Apple TV.
What you see is something i quoted from another guy. So i just copy and pasted what he said and then gave him a reply.
Maybe you should read what i'm saying / writing?
