Shouldn't the article be updated? It falsely claims that the Nokia 3 is stuck on Android 7.0 which is not the case. All versions of the phone are running 7.1.1 or at least have the update available.

Usually media Tek chip set are always the sluggish one and receive the update very late. I wonder how HMD will settle this situation on their Nokia 3 and what would the result be?

Great, keep it. Its understandable that mediatek provide bad service to low end, but SD801 which dont get nougat is not understandable, leaving xperia z3 moto x2, htc 9 out luck.

I'm guessing HMD just decided to skip the 7.1.2 update because MediaTek chips have historically been a headache when it comes to supplying updates, so they may as well spend all the extra man-hours jumping it straight to 8.0.

Oh....If indeed true Nokia 3 always up to date maybe i will buy it, though drawback is chipset used mediatek and it also without fingerprint, it compare with same mid range price such as : Moto E4/ E4 Plus, Sharp R1, Advan G1 Pro, Infinix Note 4, Evercoss Genpro Z, Blackberry Aurora, Wiko Upulse, Xiaomi Redmi 4X, Himax Xplay and Samsung J7 Core.
