I wouldn't call that dead. HMD consist of Nokia veterans, is based in on the Nokia campus in Finland (right opposite the Nokia Corporation HQ), use Nokia Technologies for patents and R&D, has Nokia on the board of directors and has Nokia set the minimum device requirements. Claiming HMD are merely using the Nokia logo is about as ignorant of a statement as it gets.

It's also rather ridiculous to say we need baseless bashing of brands on this site to balance out fans of various manufacturers. What we need are objective discussions, not baseless bashing or blind loyalties. And his endless bashing and trolling aren't exactly promoting those good discussions.

As someone who had a Nokia N900 (remember MeeGo ?), my opinion holds more value than the thousands of these trolls. And even I say: Nokia is dead, HMD devices are merely using the Nokia logo.

So better to remain objective, and see individual devices for their own merits (and prices).

ZloiYuri, 05 Dec 2017It seems that Treble requires a special engineering and coding skills. HMD Global just have no both.it seems that you have no idea how Nokia runs before Android came to life

Project Treble is not necessary for Nokia as long as they are providing update fast(At least fast enough than other OEMS after Google Pixel). Also, We'll still get 2 Major Android update nothing more even after this feature. So what's the point? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

More info about this would be nice...
But all in all treble seems to require some extra work, so that in short run it seems to be easier to do hard work in upgrades. But more info about treble definitely would be interesting.
Is the info about that partitiivi true? Do some manufacturers have allready compatible partition in older devices and so don`t etc...

                          Sad news.

Especially as this might also imply that other vendors can not upgrade their devices to support Project Treble by OTA updates.

It seems that it is best to avoid buying any new phones which don't come with Oreo atm, especially if buying mid and low end devices
