The speculation over it being 2.5g or 3g is over I belive.
Now we got the first glimpses or upcoming G800 with following specs:
** 5mp cam with zenon flash and autofocus.
** AF 5.8 - 17.4 mm focus length (hints for 3x optical zoom???)
** 3G or HSDPA connection
** Might be slider might be touchscreen (no info so far)
Have a look
Samsung always presents the best design phone everytime.
This G600 is 2.5G Phone, no possibility to have a videocall, that is what I know for sure since my working area is in the Wireless Telecommunication, that offer 2G, 2.5G, 2.75G, 3 and 3.5G even now for 4G.
The advertisement also not show the possibility to do this videocall, and it only has 1 camera (5MP) in the back of the slide (when u slide it up).
Concerning about the body, that made by plastic, not all made by plastic. some are made by the metal AFAIK from the advertisement.
But remember, the biggest plane right now in the world, Airbus A380 also made by plastic, not the allumunium anymore, that was invented in Netherlands, I knew it for sure. So do not underestimate the plastic material, cause it may have strength more than metal now by NanoTechnology invention.
Above all, it is a good phone, with realistic price. Wondering what kind of phone that Samsung will made for 4G, for example in WiMAX network. I prefer to have clamshell phone, thin one, but with very good UI and stable software and more energy reservation scheme. Samsung, can you provide me with that?
It doesn't look like the g600 has 3g and if you zoom in on pictures you can definatly tell it is some sort of light sensor!
I don't think video calling is neccessary anyway it's a waste of money if you ask me.
P.S I totally agree with the comment below! I'm glad someone thinks the same way!
People sayall Samsung look the same, if you wern't so stuck up with your n95 u would see all Nokias do also for example n80 and n95! In Your Face! :P
Another example of what Samsung do well... a decent 2.5G handset without an operating system giving you the specs of so-called 'high end' models like the Nokia N95 without the compromise in stability and usability for calls. Also bearing in mind that Samsung are the MASTER in moving form factor handsets; why did flip phones become iconic? Samsung A300. Why did sliders become popular? Samsung D500... sure the D500 wasn't the first, but it was the first really popular one (before people remind me of the Siemens S55)... and the G600 is the next step... the design is like the E900 without the downside of the touch sensitive keypad...
Just FYI... the N95 will never be as stable and dependable as a Samsung with closed OS... and this may be released later than the N95, but at least Samsung think their handsets out rather than releasing ugly bricks that are only good for doorstops within a short time. Also the D900 and U600 are TOO thin and so screens break too easily... it's a FANTASTIC thing that this won't be as slim as either of them.
Fianlly! I've been waiting for Samsung to bring out the 5 megapixel goods in a tight package.
Hopefuly the phone will be awesome enough to at least match with my i-mobile 902.
Cazn't wait (=^_^=)
According to manufactures, this is the slimest slider. It is not.u600 is.I have the d900 and it's even slimmer than the g600.Recently bought the Nokia N95 and it's fantastic.
Then you should ask yourself what the heck that thingy on the top, which looks like a cam.
Somebody mentioned that could be light sensor.
To my knowledge Samsung doesnt have light sensors like that in their models so far.
Chester Lee Gonzales you read so much, and understand nothing no 3G capabilities in this phone = no hsdpa, etc
I've read that Samsung were very behind Sony Ericsson. That's very big silliness. IF Samsung were so behind then why they are SECOND on the worlds cellphone market and continue to increase their share? Think clear! Many started to be jealous of the good Samsung phones.
GUYS take note: Users are content with what mobile handsets have to offer in terms of photo quality and are looking for improvements in the video recording department. The Samsung G600 promises to deliver CIF (352x288) resolution recording at full 30 fps, while at the same time it will be able to record even in VGA (640x480 pixels) resolution, but most probably not at 30 fps.
to the person who posted that G600 records VGA in 15fps, take a look to the article: "most probably not at 30 fps", so meaning it could be 30 fps and not a definite 15 fps. suit yourself.
Nothing impressive. Small screen, just like the K850, neither of those phones can participate in N95's single race. And yes, I've got one.
some people dare to talk about phone designs in samsung area. how brave and astonishing!
i have never heard that nokia and se phones are catchy, which are in fact very ugly.
Nokia and SE fans cannot help it but not to ignore the greatest gift mankind has created for the world which is Samsung G600.
i think samsung's features are good enough..but i think samsung's mobile phones look the same which means not too catchy in the eye...nokia and ericsson are the best in phone designs...
Oh My God, please calm down Nokia Fanboy. you're pathetic T_T
I think Samsung is good enough, but Sony Ericsson has stolen my heart :) , this phone is too classy for me! I prever simple and smart design like SE.
