If they are already going all this way out, why not have 4 rear cameras and 2 front cameras? 4 for RGB, monochrome, wide, and telephoto/zoom

Still a lot cheaper than flagship phones and you get a much better camera that still fits in your pocket with zeiss lens and 3x zoom
A smartphone with a camera setup like the Light L16 might not be far from reality in the near future... or might be sooner.
Trying to take on dslr again is good idea, I'm bored with 12mp, 808 pics were superb. But until now b&w shots were better than colorful ones, made using 2 sensors. Wish to see their improvement. If its serious, not some upscale, I wish gsma compare it here with old 808/1020. Samsung up to 24, huawei 40, wonder about sony move...

Let's see how this will stack up aaginst Nokia 808 PureView and Nokia Lumia 1020. The king of camera phone since 2012/13.
Matt99, 06 Dec 2017My Nokia 808 dose 38mp pictures and that's from 2012.honestly, the old nokia was iconic and far ahead of its time. I have a lumia 1020 which remains one of the best cameras. A shame it seems it will never have a successor.

Be Nice To Others, 06 Dec 2017Wide angle is still the best thing for a smartphone.
How many times do you have to move backw... moreI still think there's a benefit for the monochrome sensor when it comes to dynamic range. When shooting in RAW with the P10 Plus, there's a HUGE amount of data to play with. Bigger and better than any smartphone I've ever used (I have most of 2017's flagships). Plus, you get the flexibility of shooting in 20MP or 12MP and get 2X hybrid zoom in the latter. Also, the photos are really contrasty and very unique when you use this setup. I don't know, I just feel there's some texture to the photos when you shoot them with Huawei phones. Maybe it's the part where LIECA comes in.
I suggest you to watch Juan from Pocketnow's camera review for the P10 Plus here to know more: https://youtu.be/4nPSpxRPgy0
If you're wondering why I chose this, it's because it's unbiased. It shows you the good and the bad. Hope you enjoy it!
DealBreaker, 06 Dec 2017I don't want a phone to make me the pictures ...I want a phone to take the pictures as real as... moreSo, never use auto mode.
No matter the brand .
Forget hdr, it makes pics artificial.
Anonymous, 06 Dec 2017for Auto yes, but for pro mode it's another story. Pixel are for those who dont know how to us... moreA pro doesn't use a camera with bad image quality. With raw and manual mode you will still get worse results than Pixel's HDR+ jpgs. In order to rescue the highlights you will need to underexpose by several stops => noisy, unusable image . You can bracket raw files, but then this is not very good for moving objects whereas HDR+ has no issues with moving objects.
