Spudly, 06 Jul 2011Erm, I don't think that's quite right. Don't know who's law you are quoting but I really do t... moreIt might be like this, they could target google, but only to exclude parts that Microsoft holds patents over, or to close down the project. I guess court wouldnt judge google to pay license fee, as they havent made money from the project.
If MS do make google redesign android, that would mean that MS could not get the extra dollars. And they know they cant make google shut down the project, a redesign, would be googles action to respond on pressure from MS.
So they are targeting the manufactors, cause from them they can get license-fees. They could probably get a court to rule on that, as well.
And this will probably go on, till google either change Android, or make a deal with MS. But in the meantime MS can make money of the manufactors.

Bugs, lack of models, AND linux-kernel royalties to MS because MS doesn't want MeeGo growing because then WP7 will be completely dead! lol

Ashura, 06 Jul 2011I am at my work computer i can not access that site. Can you give me the jist of it?Elop looked at the Meego future track and realised that at the current pace, only 3 models would be introduced before 2014, which wasn't good enough.

Nokia had to choose, and the options were Android and Microsoft. Android was very attractive, but they were doing well, so were kinda arrogant and refused to negotiate. Microsoft was slightly different.

Blah blah blah, had dinner at Indian restaurant blah blah blah, ANNOUNCEMENT! We're going with Microsoft peeps! Woot!

Nokia reputation still slightly damaged, but announcement undid quite a bit. Secretly, carriers are rooting for Nokia, to bring balance to The Force.

Well, that's roughly the gist as I read it. Actually I skipped to the last two pages only lol.

Ashura, 06 Jul 2011I am at my work computer i can not access that site. Can you give me the jist of it?-MeeGo got bugs and Nokia can only produce 3 MeeGo phones by 2014
-3 MeeGo phones by 2014 are not enough to keep Nokia afloat.
-Nokia's collective mindset of its employees still thinks MeeGo is the answer to Android and iOS.
-Nokia planned to use Android.
-Nokia approached Google and ask if they can bundle Ovi Maps and other stuff to differentiate Nokia from the rest of the OEMs.
-Google rejected Nokia's demands and the talks fell apart.
-Nokia turned to WP as a result.
-MS agreed to let Nokia do whatever they want to WP.
-Elop delivered his burning platform memo
