Cassy O, 10 Dec 2017Xperia XZ Premium just only resolution, everything else is garbage. Watching HDR content with ... moreBecause the 4K uses more power already. Then brightness has to be limited.
This value is for standard mode. Not X Reality or Super Vivid.

RGB on S8 is set 255, on Sony phones it comes 0 by default. You change if you want.

XZ1 has lower ppi and higher brightness than Premium. The Compact even more.
Same on Z5P, lower values than Z5 and Z5c.

S8 pass 1000 nits only under very bright light, at home the user cant even set 500. Barely pass 440 nits.

It is about battery

Smartphones with 120Hz are Razer, Sharp Aquos R and XZ Premium ( I discovered that you can enable 120Hz@1080p or 4K@60Hz if you go to developers mode) .

Xperia XZ Premium just only resolution, everything else is garbage. Watching HDR content with 1200:1 contrast ratio? LOL!
Brighteness isn't that bright.
Sunlight legibilty is the worst than the other. (This reminds me about how poor Z5 Premium is.)
Color isn't that acurate.
But i know their fans gonna justify and defend this phone is the best! LOL.

No LG on the list. I do not hate on LG, but I do not feel surprised.

G6 looks awful. It does not look an hdr/dolby screen. Everything is kinda dark.
V30 with issues reported by some tech sites. When brightness is low.

Where is the iPhone 8 plus? it's one of the brightest displays around yet you only mentioned the iPhone X, it's a superb LCD panel, if not the best.

So maybe these are reasons behind LCD fans.

Apple won with the iPhone X's brighter screen, with a much more accurate screen and one that's slightly better to view in sunlight as well. Not to mention a more responsive touch-panel at 120Hz (which Apple has had for years btw).

In comparison, the S8/S8+/Note8 screens are less visible under sunlight, a lot less accurate/more saturated, run at the standard 60Hz for touch-panel and display, and have less brightness.

It just sucks that Apple didn't introduce their 120Hz refresh rate for the display as well, like they did on their previous iPads. That would set the new high-bar. However, I think its because power drain was too high at that rate for this OLED display, so they might introduce it in a couple years later.

The more practical choice will always be amoled. Incomparable sunlight legibility, infinite contrast, better battery life, and so on. Why people advocate lcd is beyond logic. The only real argument for it is the burn-in non-issue, which newer gen amoleds have already taken care of. Well, maybe except lg screens.
